Biosecurity is the management of infectious diseases to reduce the risk of transmission. Animal
biosecurity is a comprehensive approach with the critical element being the control of disease
agents and the prevention of the spread of any disease agents. This includes, hygiene practices
and the quarantine of and control of infectious diseases onto and within, the Red Range
Sportsground and surrounding roads and tracks. This information applies to management of
infectious disease risk in general, which could include strangles, diarrhoea, respiratory illness
and also includes information specifically relating to Hendra virus risk and its zoonotic potential.
Biosecurity also includes management of risks associated with livestock pests such as cattle
ticks and the associated governmental regulations.
All participants are asked to co operate with the organising committee to help ensure the 2015
Equestrian Australia Endurance Championships is a successful and enjoyable event for all. The
organising committee sincerely hopes that participants will understand that this policy aims to
protect the health of all horses and people associated with the 2015 Equestrian Australia
Endurance Championships event.
Every participant has a responsibility to abide by the biosecurity measures and to follow the
directions of the Organising Committee (OC), Veterinary Commission, Chief Steward and
Ground Jury members. Failure to do so risks exclusion from the event.
This document summarises the actions that participants are asked to take, in particular the
person who is responsible for each horse. The person responsible for each horse is ultimately
responsible for ensuring that their horse does not pose a risk to the health of horses or people
at the event. All horses which enter the ride venue and any travelling companions are subject
to the requirements set out in this document. All participants are asked to ensure that they
abide by the requests made of them in this document, and this co operation will be greatly
appreciated by the Organising Committee.

The Event Biosecurity Manager is Luke Annetts (in conjunction with the OC) who must be
contacted (details on page 1 of this document) if there is a horse health issue prior to the
Veterinary Commissions arrival. The Event Biosecurity Manager is in charge should a biosecurity
risk arise before the Veterinary commission arrives.
Biosecurity begins before the event. Unwell horses must not knowingly
be brought to the event.
