We are a Christian-centered group. We do not require church membership but ask that each member conduct their behavior in a moral, Christ-like way. We strive to be Godly examples to our children in our words and actions. 29 Palms Home Educators Thank you for your interest in 29 Palms Home Educators. This brochure is intended to help you understand who we are and what we do to support you in your own home school. We are a homeschool co-operative (coop). We, as homeschooling parents, agree to work together to provide educational enrichment activities and opportunities for our homeschooled children, ranging from pre-K through high school. We are not a private school or charter school with tutors. All of our classes and events are led by parent volunteers. Membership in the co-op requires that each semester every family lead a class or an event, or coordinate a field trip or other co-op related activity. The goal of the co-op is to enrich your current homeschool program. Our Yahoo Group: All class schedules, upcoming events, and other informational articles are posted on the 29 Palms Home Educators Yahoo group site. Upon completion of the New Member Questionnaire, Medical Treatment Form, and Parental Consent Form (we require that you attend a Co-op event to receive this document), you will be invited to join the Yahoo group online. All members may post events, ideas, and general information on this site. For safety and security reasons, the Yahoo Group is exclusive to current/active 29 Palms Home Educators Co-op Members. Our Facebook page is open to all homeschool families regardless of Co-op Membership. Search 29 Palms Home Educators on Facebook to find the page. Visit it for homeschool articles, ideas, and area events. Our classes: Group classes are held at the Palms Baptist Church (5285 Adobe Rd, 29 Palms) on most Fridays, with the exception of field trip days and holidays. Classes are scheduled for each age-group from Pre-K through high school. A Tiny Tots class is provided by co-op members for babies/children too young to attend classes. Typically Friday mornings start with Co-op Choir at 8:45. A morning assembly for all members is held in the fellowship hall at 10a.m. Classes are held from 10:30 to noon. different curriculum options, etc. Each semester we schedule a planning meeting to discuss ideas and events for the children. Having the support of other homeschooling parents is invaluable in creating the best experience for you and your children. For more information about homeschooling in general or how to start, please visit California Homeschool Network's (CHN) Site @ http://californiahomeschool.net. Field Trips and other Activities: We try to provide at least one field trip opportunity each month. Our field trips are open to all actively involved families. Field trips may include performing arts productions such as the McCallum Theatre Field Trip Series and Performance Riverside Discovery Theatre, among the many opportunities in the surrounding area. We also offer other classes outside of regular Friday classes. These classes have included art, sewing, cooking, etc. Exact offerings are dependent on parent volunteers. All activities are accessed through the Yahoo Database. Parent Events: In addition to all the wonderful events provided for the children, we also provide events for the parents. Each month we offer a Mom's Night Out led by a member of the group. We also schedule Homeschool 101 classes and offer mentoring for new homeschool parents. These are opportunities for new homeschool families to talk with those of us who have more experience and learn about If you are already homeschooling your children, or decide to in the future, we invite you to consider becoming part of our co-op.
