Practical Enabling Check: Dental Therapist Trainees shall complete the EC with minimal
assistance. Students are allowed to ask questions.

PART II – INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN TO TRAINEE
1.
Dental Therapist Trainee will be given 10 minutes to complete this EC. A 5 minutes warning will
be given before the end of the EC. A mark of 70% or higher is considered a pass.

1. Pass/Fail checklist
2. The trainee will need to demonstrate proper hand washing technique with a waterless hand
sanitizer and with soap and water and apply dental gloves.

CHECKLIST
Waterless Hand Sanitizer
Roll up sleeves above wrists.
Remove any rings or watch during
hand hygiene.
Dispense ample amount of product
into palm of one hand.
Rub hands together, covering all
surfaces of hands and fingers with
antiseptic rub.
Allow hands to dry before applying
gloves.
Soap and Water
Roll up sleeves above wrists.
Remove any rings or watch during
hand hygiene.
At the sink, turn on warm water.
Wet hands and wrists thoroughly.
Apply a small amount of soap and
rub hands together.
Rub hands at least for 30 seconds
ensuring all areas are scrubbed.
Rinse and dry hands thoroughly with
a clean paper towel before applying
gloves.
