UW-Platteville Requirement Fulfilled: Language and culture are required components of every course at CMN. Native American students study English as a second language. The following language courses are offered at CMN and many students will have completed one or more of them by the time they transfer to UW-Platteville.

In addition and specifically for the students coming from the Menominee K-12 school district, students are learning Menominee language as part of their curriculum. Finally, language is an extremely culturally sensitive topic for American Indians because of the historical trauma associated with the majority population attempting to extinguish the native languages and cultures. As recognition of this historical trauma, we are including specific wording within the articulation agreement recognizing the value of native languages to their culture. UW-Platteville would be the first university to recognize this formally in the planned articulation agreement with CMN.
