Students use knowledge from across the disciplines to strengthen their understanding of each subject’s
content and its related careers through topic or theme oriented realistic problem-based activity-rich
lessons.
Theme that this lesson would tie to: STEAM Careers
Specific Topic Concept within that theme: Introducing the careers to the students, with a focus on
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math
PROJECT IDEA + brief notes & supplies
BASIC CONCEPTS
Concept: The students will research careers
related to all components of STEAM.
Science –


Basic Plan: Students were asked to write
about their top 2 future career choices.
We discussed how STEAM connects to
most careers. Then, the teachers chose
one of the two given options by the
student. The teachers based this decision
on the number of career choices in order
to have a variety of STEAM careers
showcased. Once students were assigned
their career choice, they began their
research. As the script was developed
based on their careers, students were
assigned speaking, singing, and acting
roles. Songs were written based on
components of STEAM. The culminating
activity is a performance.

the careers involving Science.
Goal / ObjectivesStandards – S2CS1. Students will be
aware of the importance of curiosity,
honesty, openness, and skepticism in
science and will exhibit these traits in
their own efforts to understand how the
world works.
a. Raise questions about the world
around them and be willing to seek
answers to some of the questions by
making careful observations and
measurements and trying to figure
things out.
S2CS3. Students will use tools and
instruments for observing, measuring,
and manipulating objects in scientific
activities.
a. Use ordinary hand tools and
instruments to construct, measure, and
look at objects.
b. Assemble, describe, take apart, and
reassemble constructions using
