September 15, 2011
6:30 pm- Monticello Cafeteria
Attendance: Shawntai Robertson, Roslyn Thomas, Paula Costilla, Angela Hewey,
Rebecca Fern, Paul Fern, Shelby Graham, Stephanie Ramirez, Jennifer Couch,
Stephanie Dunn
 Meeting called to order at 6:40 pm
 Minutes were reviewed, corrected “Bidding 4 Good” to “Bidding For Good”
Motion to approve as amended, seconded
 Treasurer Update
o $11953.80 bank balance, owe $1517.73 for Spirit Wear
o $435.27 profit for Spirit Wear, not including teachers’ orders
 School Updates
o Jefferson
 Celebrating Constitution Day on Sept.16
 Measure J Planning Committee meeting on September 21 at
3:15 in the library. The committee will be reviewing 3 site plans
and deciding upon one.
 Jefferson Literacy Night on September 21 at 6:00pm at Traina
 Picture Make-up Day on September 22
 Minimum day and Progress Reports will be mailed on
September 26
 September 26-30 is College Week
 Scoliosis Testing for 7th grade girls and 8th grade boys on
October 5
 October 10-14 is 6th grade Science Camp
 Teen Truth Live Bullying Assembly for all 6th-8th graders on
October 17
o Monticello
 September 2 was Student Council elections- President is Alexa
Johnson, V.P. is Andrew Cook, Secretary is Bella Gonzalez, and
Treasurer is Chloe Silva
 Student Council will continue to partner with the Animal
Shelter
 PFA Fun’d Run is tomorrow from 9-9:30 and 1-1:30
 Students in 2nd,3rd, and 4th grades recently completed the
Curriculum Associates test
 Reading Rotation, RISE and Intervention programs will begin at
most grade levels within the next 3 weeks
 September 23rd at 8:30 is 4th grade spelling bee
 September 28 Fall pictures
 September 26th progress reports are sent home
 Fun’d Run
o Need a few more volunteers
o Bidding For Good website is working well and easy to use
 Book Bingo
o Jefferson Cafeteria on September 23rd from 6:30-7:30pm
o Need to put in newsletter and create a poster
o This is the first Family Fun Night
o If you donate a gently used costume, you receive a raffle ticket for a
free book
 Dinner/Auction
o Event is November 4 from 6-11pm
o Dinner will be buffet style with Mike Bacchetti’s crew serving
o Approved Dinner budget up to $7000
o Parent letter will go home asking for donations for auction and
website address
o Restaurant gift cards are needed for auction
o Is it possible for TLC to provide babysitting from 6-11 that night
 Costume Sale
o Event is October 6 and 7
o Does Jefferson want to be involved
o Teachers collect costumes
o Stephanie Dunn will bring clothes rack and two Easy-ups
o Will sell in front of K1 and K2 from 12:15-12:45 and 2:00-3:00
 “Girls’ Night Out”
o Fundraiser idea from Paula Costilla
o Can buy “bling” clothing and other items for Jeans and Jewels dinner
o 25% of profit goes to PFA
o Event is Thursday October 13 at 7:00pm at Stephanie Dunn’s house
 Lice outbreak at Monticello
 Jefferson needs
o Help with assembly ideas and fund them
o Turkey Trot is on November 9th and need help setting up, getting
turkeys and running the races
o Would like STAR parties held after STAR testing
o Dr. Bridges would like monthly lunches with his students. The
students would be pulled from a drawing based on grades,
citizenship, etc…
o Movie/Game Night on Jan. 20
o Possible Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance
o Some recess equipment is needed, as well as, a laminator, Ellison Die
Machine, and possibly a shredder
 Meeting adjourned at 8:03pm
 Next meeting is October 21 at 8:30 am
