Responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the components related to secondary curriculum and instruction. Oversee, implement, and evaluate programs to improve student achievement, and work with DEIC. Analyze local and state date as they relate to accountability and AEIS. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Master’s degree Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness Ability to manage budget and personnel Ability to coordinate district function Ability to implement policy and procedures Ability to interpret data Knowledge and understanding of testing and measurement Understanding of assessments and state testing programs/compliance Strong analytical and information system skills Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills Experience: Five years administrative experience in public education Five years experience as a classroom teacher MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 1. Direct instructional and curriculum services to meet students’ needs. 2. Plan, implement, and evaluate instructional programs with teachers and principals, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques. [1] Director of Secondary Curriculum/Assessment & Accountability 3. Apply research and data to improve the content, sequence, and outcomes of the teaching-learning process. 4. Work with appropriate staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis. 5. Obtain and use evaluative findings, including student achievement data to examine secondary program/service effectiveness. 6. Involve instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs. 7. Ensure the use of technology in the teaching-learning process. 8. Evaluate and identify areas of needed improvement in the instructional/curriculum support programs. 9. Oversee the administration of the state-testing program, including security measures. 10. Oversee and assist in developing or selecting, administering, interpreting, and reporting the District’s local testing program and procedures. 11. Report detailed analyses of student measurement for local achievement growth, state accountability and AEIS data for the District. 12. Communicate district goals, test scores, accountability measures, and accomplishments to all stakeholders. 13. Research and provide new knowledge and developments in assessment techniques to curriculum staff. 14. Assist curriculum staff in the design of evaluation projects. 15. Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis, and the findings are used to make instructional programs and services more effective. 16. Coordinate and provide training to assist with the DEIC process. 17. Develop, maintain, and utilize the appropriate information systems and records for campus and District overall school improvement efforts. 18. Demonstrate skill in coaching staff and peers; provide technical assistance to the curriculum staff concerning the use of data in the teaching and learning process. 19. Assist in compiling reasonable budgets and cost estimates based upon documented program needs. 22. Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Rockwall ISD. 23. Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise and evaluate the performance of instructional supervisors and support staff in the curriculum department.
