December 17, 2013 INDUSTRIAL DRIVE TO PINER ROAD - SEWER IMPROVEMENTS Dear Resident: The City of Santa Rosa has awarded the contract for construction of the above referenced project to Argonaut Constructors of Santa Rosa. Construction is expected to begin in January of 2014 and be completed by mid summer 2014. The project limits are shown on the attached map. The project will install a new sewer main in Piner Road and Cleveland Avenue to replace an existing deteriorated and inaccessible sewer main that runs through a public utility easement on adjacent commercial properties. The project limits are shown on the attached map. During the project Cleveland Avenue will be kept open with a least one lane available for each direction of traffic during business hours, while the work on Piner Road will require detouring westbound traffic for several days. Regardless of the traffic control the City and contractor will work to maintain access to all businesses. To allow you to keep current with the ongoing construction activities for this and other City projects, the City has created a website, www.SRcity.org/cip. This site includes a map with links to provide you with updated information on each project. Replacement of aging sewer systems in older neighborhoods such as yours is a high priority for the City of Santa Rosa’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The completion of these CIP projects is vital to the integrity of our infrastructure. Some of the benefits include: Improving sewer system performance by upgrading pipe materials Reducing potential for sewer pipe blockages due to tree root intrusion Reducing the frequency of sewer maintenance Reducing groundwater infiltration into the sewer system, which helps with the effectiveness of our Wastewater Treatment Plant and, in turn, helps to protect our environment We recognize this construction project will impact traffic in your neighborhood to varying degrees and at different times throughout the course of construction. Regardless, the contractor will be advised that customer access and delivery of merchandise to businesses is imperative and must be maintained during the project. The contractor will also be required to maintain access for mail delivery and garbage service. Though temporary impacts to your neighborhood are inevitable, our goal is to improve sewer service without creating any more disturbance than necessary. If you have any special needs regarding access, or any questions, comments, or concerns – now or during construction - please contact Argonaut’s Project Manager or me at the following numbers: Jason Balatti, Argonaut Project Manager Fred Browne, City of Santa Rosa Project Manager (707) 542-4862 (707) 543-4528 If you are aware of other occupants on your property who may not receive this notice, please share this notice with them or contact me with their address and I will notify them directly.
