Kitchen and Garden Waste Management Proposal
Dear Sir,
Compost King has been involved in waste management in Pune since the last 4 years.
The waste management process works on the model of converting your KITCHEN & GARDEN waste
to compost using simple techniques, tools and equipments for composting the waste.
This keeps the costs at a minimal level.
This involves
1. Segregation of wet waste into bins (Wet waste includes kitchen waste &garden waste)
2. Composting the same in bio bins made from bricks.
3. Segregation of dry waste (Plastic, metal, glass etc…) into various bins, based upon its
material and recycle value.

COMPOST KING
That is a daily total of 18 societies, 2400 families, over 2100 kg of daily kitchen + garden waste
Costing
I will charge a small survival fee of Rs 5000 to Rs 7000 per month depending on the amount of waste
generated and the number of occupied flats.
This amount includes the services as below
1. Labor for handling the waste, and daily maintenance of the waste, i.e. turning the waste,
arranging the bins as per the age of the waste, watering the waste.
2. Shredding the waste using a shredding machine, which I will get to the society periodically,
this reduces the costs of disposing off the garden waste per month.
3. Composting equipments like rakes, hand Gloves, shovels, cutters, axe, etc...
4. Bio Cultures, i.e. the bacteria cultures required to compost the wastes.
5. Training for society servants, gardeners etc… for proper segregation.
6. Finally sieving the semi-composted waste to harvest compost every quarter.
7. Helping the society for the 5 % property tax rebate
8. Helping the society to sell the ready compost to nurseries or directly to farmers
9. Helping the society to sell the dry plastic waste.
10. Painting the bins once and keeping the whole area clean free of any foul smell, flies etc on
a daily basis.
11. Periodic pest control for flies and rodents.
The Returns on your Investment
1.
PMC offers a 5% property tax rebate to individual members in the society
2. The compost generated from the process is sold to nurseries in Pune @ approximately Rs 35 per kg. A society of 100 families can generate around 500-1000 kg every 3 months which
would fetch the society Rs 3000 – 5000 /-.
3. The shredding of garden waste removes the monthly recurring costs of disposing off
the garden wastes through PMC or private tempo services.
4. The dry waste like bottles, tube lights, bulbs, steel & aluminum material, tetra pack, glass,
packaging material can be collected in a common place in bins and sold to recyclers every
month. This costing too can help reduce the payments done for my services.
5. Over all the BIGGEST return for the members is becoming a 100% clean environment
friendly society which is very rare in pune city.
6. These activities can take the society into being 100% Eco friendly, by REDUCING /
RECYCLING / REUSING the waste that is generated.
(As per PMC rules, societies and their members are eligible for a 5% property tax rebate for Composting, 5% for
rain water harvesting & 5% for solar power use)

Space Requirements
I will have to do a survey of your premises to understand the space available versus the waste
generated.
For Kitchen waste
The society would have to construct pits for the kitchen waste. A basic layout drawing of the bins is
attached for your reference on page - 04
If the society already has pits constructed the same can be used after cleaning and some
maintenance
For the garden waste
We can make rings of chain links, and place them adjacent to the kitchen waste pits, or even at
various locations in the society compound. The large garden cutting will be shredded using my
shredding machine.
(Garden waste will not create any smell or attract any insects)
A basic layout drawing of the chain link bins is attached for your reference on page – 05
Methodology
I will be composting with “Aerobic” reaction i.e. using a bacteria culture for composting rather than
using earthworms. Aerobic method is more simple and cost effective as compared to Vermi
composting
Thankyou
Please do call me for any further clarifications or doubts.

1. The length x breath is dependent on the number of families Vs the space available in your
society and height of the bins would be 4 feet.
2. There will be no plastering on the side walls, and no base plastering as well.
3. The side walls will have openings for air flow and will be covered with a fine wire mesh with a
angle frame work
4. The top of the bins will have a wire mesh cover with hinges; this will prevent larger animals
like dogs, cats from entering the bins.
