Online Courses
Designate your online courses as Summer Session I, Summer Session II, or Full Session. Course learning
outcomes should be the same for online courses as for corresponding face-to-face courses.
General Information
Class Lists and Final Grades
Faculty members print their class list(s) through MyUH Portal. Final grades are also entered through MyUH
Portal on the Monday after the end of your class. Grades for Summer Session I are due on June 18 by 12:00
p.m. As the grades are entered, students are able to view them on Star. All grades must be entered no later
than 12:00 p.m. on July 29.
Final Exam
A special final exam period is not scheduled. Extra time is built into the schedule for the final exam; final
exams are typically scheduled on the last day of the summer session.
Course Evaluations
Because summer session courses are compressed in time, we use an online version of the UH Hilo course
evaluation form. The results of the evaluations can be included in personnel review dossiers. The questions
are the same, the format is the same, but students will complete the forms online from their own computers
or from university computers. Instructions will be sent to students by the Institutional Researcher; the DL
Coordinator will notify instructors when this occurs. To log in to evaluation forms online, students will need to
enter the five (5) digit course CRN and their own eight (8) digit student ID numbers.
Directed Reading and Research/Independent Study (x99) Courses
For directed reading and research/independent study (x99) courses, the completed form
http://www.uhh.hawaii.edu/registrar/documents/Directed_Studies_FORM_8-9-10_000.pdf must be
submitted to the Records Office for processing. The student is responsible for the tuition and fees.
Special Topics (x94) and Experimental Courses (x98)
Instructor must complete the Special Topic/Experimental Course Proposal form
(http://www.uhh.hawaii.edu/policies/documents/SpecialTop-ExperimentalForm.pdf) must be submitted it
and the course syllabus to the department chair, division chair (CAS, COBE, CHL, COP) and the dean for
approval. The original should be submitted to the Office of the Registrar for official processing. A copy should
be sent along with your summer course proposal to CCECS. Deadline for summer classes: November 16.
