Primary Job Responsibilities As a Jacobs’ Technical Director in ecology you will be joining a successful and dynamic sixty strong group, leading an existing team in Maidstone with opportunity to grow. You will be reporting to the ecology lead for the UK. Your main responsibilities will include: Leading and mentoring a team of ecologists working on a variety of projects. Technical lead for projects including large infrastructure projects. Supporting the national team’s business strategy. Ecological project management, business development, preparation of ecological impact studies, feasibility studies, and scheme reports for projects. Resolution of technical issues as they occur for a range of areas across projects and for the monitoring of progress. Training and Experience: Essential: A good ecological scientist with an honours degree in ecology or a related field. Full member of CIEEM Proven experience of most aspects of ecological projects Confident with proven interpersonal and communication skills. Thorough understanding of environmental legislation pertinent to the UK and application in EcIA and HRA Capable of managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice Management experience Good IT skills Surveying and working experience in the UK regulatory framework including protected species licensing Desirable: CEnv / CEcol Postgraduate degree Protected species licence(s) An ecological specialism Ecological aspects of the DMRB and trunk road schemes Other Essential Functions You need to be a team player willing to work collaboratively with some travel.
