Re: Year 11 GCSE Seperate Science re-sits in Summer 2013
Further to your son/daughter obtaining his/her January 2013 GCSE Seperate Science results, if desired it is
possible for the examinations to be taken again in an attempt to improve performance. Following a re-sit
exam the highest mark achieved is used to calculate the final GCSE grade awarded. (If students do not
improve on the mark obtained in the first exam then their first mark will be used in awarding the GCSE.)
The cost of re-sitting a Separate Science examination is £15. Summer 2013 is the only time resits of these
exams are available.
Your son/daughter will be advised by subject staff as to the best option available to him/her regarding resitting these examinations. If you wish your son/daughter to re-sit any of the Seperate Science
examinations then please complete the reply slip below and return it the School Office with the appropriate
payment. The deadline for payment of the GCSE Seperate Science re-sit examinations is 15th March
2013. Cheques must be made payable to Isle of Man Government. Examination timetables will be issued
in April 2013.
On receipt of payment, your son/daughter will be entered for the requested exam in the Summer 2013
examination session. Students who missed any of their Seperate Science examinations in January 2013
without a valid reason can re-sit the examinations but will be required to pay the cost of a re-sit which is
£30.
