Creative Poster PROJECT – Roots, Prefixes and Suffixes
 Due Tuesday, January 18, 2011… this project is worth 70 points.
1.
Find your name in the chart below, and look over your assigned Latin and Greek root words.
2.
For the back of the large poster, make & attach a typed list (word document) of all the English words derived
from these root words and their meanings. Refer to both print and on-line dictionaries (e.g. dictionary.com), other
on-line resources (e.g., wordinfo.info) and to the attached lists of prefixes and suffixes. You will find most, if not
all, your words on www.wordinfo.info. (10 points)
3.
For the front of the large poster, choose 40 words (20 from Greek + 20 from Latin) [just the words, please!],
and be sure to incorporate these 40 words creatively into your design. Add color, creative touches and symbols to
your poster. E.g., if you have the roots for water (aqua/hydro) you could make your whole poster in the form of an
aqueduct and each word could be an individual brick in the aqueduct. (50 points: 40 points for the words +
up to 10 possible points for creativity. Be creative!)
4.
Also, for the front of the poster, Invent 4 new words with their meanings: one using a Latin prefix, another
using a Latin suffix, a 3rd using a Greek prefix, and the 4th using a Greek suffix. Be appropriate!!! (5 points)
5.
Present your poster on Tuesday, January 18. (5 points) Each day late it goes down a letter grade.
Note: I will check your wordlists against the lists on www.wordinfo.info.
 Also note: You can change the shape of the poster or use another form, e.g., a mobile.
