TO ALL PARENTS
EDWARD FEILD – COMMUNICATIONS UPDATE
After the recent communications survey open to all parents (Closed 2 nd June 2015), the following
questions were raised and these are the answers from governors. This document aims to provide
you with an update on where the governors are with the communication plans and actions.
If there are any queries with this document or if you have further points to raise then please email
governors@efs.oxon.sch.uk or you can leave a note at the school office for the attention of the
governors.

Three new communications channels are
being introduced by September 2015 (Email,
Text, New Website)
Following on from the survey completed in
the March parent’s evenings, the School has
now installed Parent Mail and will be
opening this up to parents to subscribe to
school emails and text messages. Go live
date will be circulated a.s.a.p.
It is acknowledged that we should switch to
the youngest child in school to receive the
paper newsletter. We plan to swap this over,
from September 2015.

parents support this.

Key Messages on Survey responses
 Communications should be timely, proofread, accurate and informative.
 To offer a number of different communication channels so that parents/carers can choose
how to consume the information.
 Up to date Website, with frequent updates is essential.
 Regular information on what is happening across the school.
 Better curriculum support and knowledge for parents/carers.
Channels & Tools
We plan to be communicating to audiences via the following channels:













Email (Parent Mail facility for parents to subscribe to)
Text Messages (Parent Mail facility for parents to subscribe to)
Paper newsletter (for unsubscribed parents of to Parent Mail). Parent mail helps also
facilitates the paper copies to be distrbuted to help save administration time and enable
either an electronic or paper copy is distributed to all parents.
Website including twitter feed (full launch September 2015)
Parent/Teacher Meetings (three times a year)
Parent Information Evenings (Adhoc)
Noticeboards
Letters out to parents
Twitter feed
Governors email address for feedback and actions
Termly Governor updates
Friends of Edward Feild closed facebook page (this is managed by Friends)

Next Communications Survey
We plan to run another communications survey in October 2015 to see how the new
communications channels are working.

Kidstock
It is acknowledged by school that the communications for the Kidstock event could have been
handled better. As part of the communications working group a review is taking place of the
standard letters for events to ensure that lessons are learned and a new approach adopted from
September 2015 for communications to parents.

Face to face – all the governors are listed on the wall in the school reception,
catch us in the playground.

Governor noticeboard, will be available shortly with key Governor information
on; meeting dates, who the governors are, current plans and actions.

Governor’s areas on the new website from September 2015.
You can also speak with any of the parents involved with the communications working
group if easier (catch them in the playground) and they can feed this back to the
working group.
