SELECTED RESEARCH PROJECTS
DEEP CONVOLUTIONAL NEURAL NETWORKS: KDD’15, NeuroImage, MICCAI’14, Old Dominion
University, Norfolk VA
2014-2015
Designed multiple 2D and 3D CNN models for medical and biological image analysis. Proposed multitask learning method to fine-tune pre-trained CNN models with labeled biological data. Utilized multiple
open-source CNN software on GPU platforms including Caffe, Cuda-convnet, Cnpkg and Theano.
 Achieved more than 15% relative improvement.
EVOLUTIONARY SOFT CO-CLUSTERING: SDM’13, BMC Bioinformatics, DMKD, Old Dominion
University, Norfolk VA
2013
Designed probabilistic model for evolutionary co-clustering evaluating synthetic, real DBLP data, and
several biological applications including gene expression pattern analysis in fruit fly embryo and mouse
brain. Helped develop open source software package, mesh generation and co-clustering for biological
image analysis.
 Achieved relative improvement of 2.1% compared with existing clustering methods.
