NC FALCON: Learning Targets and Criteria for Success (#13) This module focuses on how
teachers can write clear learning targets and define criteria for success in order to help
students answer the question, “Where am I going?” At the end of the module, participants will
be able to say, I can... - Recognize clear and unclear learning targets; - Develop clear learning
targets and their associated criteria for success to use in a lesson or series of lessons.

Demonstrating High Expectations (#72) In this mini-module we will examine the impact of
teacher expectations on student success in an era of new standards, explore how educator
beliefs are reflected in classroom and school settings, and examine the Framework for 21st
Century Learning to fully understand the complexity of this topic. Teachers will reflect on their
Self-Assessment/Rubric for Evaluating NC Teachers and NC Professional Teaching Standards
throughout the module to improve their practice toward high expectations and success for all
students.
Developing and Maintaining a Positive Learning Environment in Your Classroom (#245)
Classroom management has always been a topic of concern for teachers, particularly those
beginning their teaching careers. Surveys of novice teachers indicate that even when they
have mastery of content knowledge and delivery technique, they often lack confidence
managing their classrooms. This course offers strategies that will enable teachers to shape the
management of their classrooms by building relationships with students, establishing
procedures, and planning lessons. Beginning teachers who have completed a teacher
preparation program as well as those who are entering the profession via alternative routes will
benefit from this module. It will also help veteran teachers who would like to refresh their
management techniques.
Differentiation in the Classroom (#182) This mini-module is designed to provide participants
with an overview of differentiation. Participants will develop a basic understanding of
differentiation, will delve into the elements of differentiation, and will explore various strategies
that can be utilized in the classroom. Upon completion, participants will be able to apply their
new knowledge in their learning environment to meet the individual needs of their students and
will be able to identify resources in order to deepen their understanding.
Effective PLCs (#87) This mini-module provides teachers and administrators with important
information and resources to build and grow Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). The
mini-module begins with basic information about PLCs and why PLCs are currently crucial.
Participants are then provided guidance to organize an effective PLC process, viewing a video
with teachers and their principal who explain their PLCs. Educators are finally reminded of the
importance of collaboration and trusting relationships for PLCs to meet their full potential.
