Citizenship

The chapter will engage member in a process that actively addresses issues on both local and national levels. Through these activities, the chapter will instill a lifelong commitment to citizenship in its members.

Instructions:

Place an “X” on the line next to each criteria statement if it is something that the chapter does to promote excellence in this program category. In addition, provide supporting documentation

for each statement in the appropriate section of the Documentation Notebook and clearly reference its exact location on the “DOCUMENTATION” line(s). Some statements require very specific types of documentation as noted. If this specific documentation is not provided, the applicant will not receive credit for the response.

If the chapter does not program in an area listed below because the item does not apply to the chapter, and there is a sound rationale for this situation, enter “N/A” on the line next to the statement. Provide a clear, concise description of the rationale on a separate page and place it in the appropriate location in the Documentation Notebook, with its exact location clearly referenced on the “DOCUMENTATION” line(s). Points may be awarded for providing a sound rationale and supporting documentation.

Criteria Statements:

1.___________ The chapter has a bylaw, constitutional requirement, or policy requiring chapter members to participate in chapter-wide service initiatives and individual

service opportunities. Documentation must include (1) a copy of the relevant policy or governing documents, (2) evidence of tracking of service for individual chapter members, and

(3) evidence of chapter-wide service projects at least once per semester.

2.___________ The chapter completes service projects with at least one other Greek

organization each year. Documentation must include (1) evidence of collaboration in planning the service project and (2) evidence of attendance by members of both chapters.

3.___________ The chapter utilizes the VISION volunteer center on campus either in connecting with community organizations, or by participating in the

monthly Greek service projects. Documentation must include evidence of

communication with the VISION volunteer center.

4. ___________ The chapter has an executive board or chairperson position assigned to plan and implement service events and philanthropy efforts.

5.___________ The chapter regularly logs hours for the Greek Life service challenge and is on track or has met percentage of service challenge
