Awesome Genetics: Project Scholarship Awesome Genetics is pleased to announce they will be awarding two scholarship pigs to a 4-H and a FFA member designated for a summer fair. Two scholarship hogs will be awarded, each a $300 value, to the members who answers one of the following essay topics best: 1. Describe in detail how 4-H or FFA has shaped your life. Share your experiences, good or bad, and how they have impacted the type of individual you have become. If you are a first year member, describe how an extra-curricular activity has positively impacted your life. 2. Explain a current significant issue the agriculture industry is facing right now. Be sure to address causes or the onset of the issue, how it effects agriculture as a whole, and describe possible solutions or alternative if they exist. Bonus points will be given to issues present within the swine industry. All essays should be typed or neatly handwritten and be 2-3 pages long at MINIMUM. Please include information about yourself (include age and grade), contact information, and the fair or show you would be exhibiting at. All entries must be received by February 18, 2013, with a signed copy of this document! LATE ENTRIES AND/OR UNSIGNED OR ABSENT DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED! The pigs will be selected in early March after our Annual Sale and before our second sale. We will announce the winners on our website, www.awesomegenetics.com, on Feb 24, 2013. The winners will also be contacted that day. Please mail your entries and contact information to: Awesome Genetics 11112 Calgary Way Valley Center, CA 92082 If you have any questions, contact Alexis at 719-557-9102 or via email at scollard001@gmail.com. DISCLOSURE: All applicants must be actively involved in 4-H or FFA, a member in good standing of the age 9-19, and they must be able to exhibit the animal at their local fair or show. Nothing else will be included with the award, except the pig at no cost. Proper sale documentation will need to be filled out by the member and their guardian if they are under the age of 18. Such paperwork may include taxwrite-off documents for individuals who own and/or operate Awesome Genetics. Awesome Genetics does not guarantee the age, weight, color, breed, or gender of the said pig. The pig will be in good health when selected, but once the pig leaves farm property Awesome Genetics will not and cannot be held responsible for the health, cost, care and well-being of the animal. No bred and fed documents will be given out. By submitting an essay, the applicant agrees to all said terms listed on this page, must sign this page in agreement and send it with the essay, and if they are awarded the animal, they hereby agree they could provide proper care to the animal once in their possession. If the awardee already placed a deposit on a pig, they can either purchase another pig or use the amount of deposit towards a higher priced pig. For example, if the awardee placed a $100 deposit, they may receive a $400 pig and receive a $300 scholarship credit, or purchase an additional pig with the $100 credit. If the applicant is under the age of 18 years old, a legal guardian must sign this in agreement as well. Because we are active leaders in the Mission Trails 4-H Club, we will not consider members showing pig projects under our club this year. Alexis Scollard will evaluate all submissions. Selection will be based on the quality of the essay based on the age and/or grade of the member. Selection cannot be disputed. If the awardee declines the offer, a runner-up will be selected.
