Boynton Beach and Palm Beach Gardens, FL – The Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival
presented by Mandel JCC, brings Hot Days Cool Flicks summer film series to Palm Beach County, July 22 to
August 27. The six films are all premieres for this area.
From a relationship challenged 30-something woman in Los Angeles to a lovely young woman in the 1937
Polish Countryside, from an Israeli folkdance troupe to the Last of the Red Hot Mamas, Sophie Tucker- Hot
Days Cool Flicks runs the gamut of summertime entertainment.
The diverse program features American independent films “Dorfman in Love” with Sara Rue and Elliott Gould
and “Blumenthal” with Brian Cox; the newly restored Yiddish classic “The Jester”, Israeli films are the awardwinning “Dolphin Boy “ and “Hora 79” and closes with the Florida premiere of “The Outrageous Sophie
Tucker.”

While the mission of the Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival is to engage, educate and
entertain” said Festival Director Ellen Wedner, “we tried to keep an emphasis on the third ‘E’ --entertain, for Hot
Days, Cool Flicks.”
Six different Palm Beach premieres will play on Tuesday nights at 7:00pm in the Mandel JCC at Palm Beach
Gardens and at 4:00pm on Wednesday afternoons –three at Movies of Delray and three at Movies of Lake
Worth.
“We wanted to give Palm Beach audiences an alternative to the summer blockbuster by presenting a diverse
line-up of independent and international movies. It’s also an amuse bouche of sorts, to our 25th film festival
season in January-February 2015. Our festival program strives to showcase high-quality cinema that everyone
can enjoy. We’re excited to give Palm Beach a singular and unique movie experience.” stated Advisory
Committee Chair Don Ephraim.
Theater locations include: Mandel JCC, 5221 Hood Road, Palm Beach Gardens, 33418 for July 22,29 and
August 5,12,19,26; Movies of Delray, 7421 W Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach, 33446, July 23, 30, August 6 and
Movies of Lake Worth,7380 Lake Worth Rd, Lake Worth, 33467, for August 13, 20, 27.
Doors open one half hour prior to screening. General audience cost is $10 per ticket. The six film series is
$54.00 and participants can mix and match theaters and times to make it a convenient series to fit their
summer schedule. Film Society Members & Sponsors are complimentary for all films. Cash or credit card is

preservation of extremely rare, original color toning.

Nicknamed "The Last of the Red Hot Mamas," singer Sophie Tucker defied expectations. Born to an Orthodox
Jewish Family, she was not conventionally beautiful, but catapulted to stardom with her blues-inflected songs,
