Graduation Checklist
 APPLY FOR NEW CENTURY SCHOLARSHIP – http://www.utahnewcentury.org/
You must go to the above website (scroll down to Forms) and fill out the application on-line, then print
it out, and mail it to the New Century Office. (Keep one copy for yourself.) All applications must be
mailed and postmarked by February 1, 2012. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered by
NCS.
Only the application is due in February. See the New Century Scholarship Requirements and
Application Instructions when you print out the application form for a list of all supporting
documentation to be sent to NCS before September 3, 2012. Be sure to put all supporting
documentation in one big envelope to submit together.

Application fee: $20.00 (will need a credit card)
$45.00 (if apply after deadline with late fee)
1. Register for your Spring semester classes first.
2. In your UV Link account, click on Planning Your Education, then Wolverine Track at top.
3. Review your progress in Wolverine Track. If any discrepancies, check with your Academic Advisor
BEFORE proceeding.
4. You’ll see a bar with the graduation hat – On track to graduate? Click on the link to Apply for
Graduation. And then click on the Spring or Summer application, whichever applies for you.
THINGS TO KNOW WHEN FILLING OUT APPLICATION
* You MUST click on “I am applying for a degree different than my major”, since you are in High School
Concurrent Enrollment (HSCE).
At pull down menu, select:

* On the application, you must choose between the following selections:
- All requirements show as being met or in progress in Wolverine Track
- Some of the requirements show as not being met
* Mark “YES” when asked if continuing on at UVU – even if you do not plan on staying at UVU.
* When asked about a free transcript, the option to have it sent somewhere else no longer works. It
will allow you to select this option, but then it will say that the option is no longer available.
 REGULARLY CHECK YOUR UV LINK EMAIL - You will receive an email confirming your graduation
application once you’ve submitted it and then later (mid-February) details explaining how to register
for the graduation ceremonies (if you choose to participate) and any other important information.
Commencement is the main ceremony where all graduates will meet together to participate in the
formal processional. The President of UVU, Honorary Degree recipient(s), and a Valedictorian will
speak.
UVU is divided into different colleges/schools. Students are assigned to a college/school according to
their major. Each college/school holds their own ceremony which is called a Convocation. During the
convocation, the students will be recognized individually. A representative of the college/school will
read each student's name, degree, and major as the student walks across the stage.

1. Apply for UVU Scholarships – http://uvu.edu/financialaid/scholarships - Freshman application
DEADLINE - February 1, 2012
BEFORE filling out the application, click on Scholarship Application Tutorials under Quick
Links. It will answer a lot of your questions.
Please fill out as much of the application as possible, so you will be considered for all
scholarships that you may qualify for i.e. academic, private, need-based, leadership, honors,
etc.
2. Re-apply for Admissions – http://www.uvu.edu/admissions - Click on Returning Student
DO NOT reapply until after January 23rd. You will not have to pay the $35.00 application fee.
Admissions DEADLINE – August 1, 2012
* Before registering for Fall classes, you will need to complete WebStart (if not already) which
is found in your UV Link and meet with the Academic Advisor over your new major.
 TRANSFER IN ANY OUTSIDE CREDIT –
Any credit coming from other colleges or universities must be sent to UVU as soon as it is completed. If
a college can send electronic transcripts, have the college send them to: etranscriptr@uvu.edu.
Electronic transcripts are processed faster by UVU verses paper transcripts. If submitting a paper
transcript, mail or drop it off in person to the Graduation and Transfer Services office.
Graduation & New Century Scholarship Time Line
November/December
Apply for New Century Scholarship; Apply for admissions and scholarships to
other colleges you are considering attending.
December/January
Apply for UVU Spring graduation if you are on track. Deadline - February 3, 2012.
If you are staying on at UVU, apply for UVU scholarships by February 1, 2012.
February/March
February/March
If you are staying at UVU for Summer or Fall, re-apply for admissions as a
Returning Student. (You will not have to pay the $35.00 application fee.) You will
need to complete WebStart (if not already) which is found in your UVLink and
meet with the Academic Advisor over your new major before you can register for
any future classes.
Register for UVU’s graduation ceremony and convocation. You will receive an
email from the graduation office. Summer graduates: In order to participate in
the graduation ceremonies, you will need to fill out An Exception to Walk form.
The graduation office will not email this to you. It will be posted to the
graduation website around mid-February at www.uvu.edu/graduation.
March
Attend the Graduation Fair at the Bookstore where you can order all your
graduation essentials: cap, gown, announcements, etc.

Ceremonies for graduation commencement and convocations.

Apply for Summer Graduation if on track. Deadline - June 1, 2012.
