This will take place on Monday 16th December at 9.30am in the school hall. Parents are very welcome to attend. Mrs Lamoury’s parents, husband Mark and children Oliver, Lydia and Tabitha will attend the service. CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY - Friday 13th December children can come to school wearing their favourite Christmas jumper, we are asking for a donation of £1 per child to send to Save the Children. As you may be aware this is a fantastic charity and the work that they undertake quite literally saves lives. If all children in school donate just £1 each we will be able to provide fresh clean water for 4 families, this would be an amazing gift to give this Christmas. Please do not buy a Christmas jumper! An everyday jumper can be decorated with tinsel etc to make it look festive. CHRISTINGLE COLLECTION - The Children’s Society has again asked for our support in raising money for their advent collection. A collection box has been sent home with your child. Please fill this with loose change between now and Christmas and take it along to the Christingle service at St Lawrence Church at 6pm on Christmas Eve. If you are unable to attend this service, please return the collection box to school before the Christmas break and we will make sure it gets to church on your behalf. PARENT GOVERNOR ELECTION - As there was only one application for the Parent Governor vacancy, there is no need to conduct elections. The Governing Body has therefore appointed Claire Dubelbeis as our new Parent Governor with immediate effect. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Claire to the Board of Governors and to thank Sarah Johnson for her help and support during her term of office. HOLIDAYS – It is approaching the time of year when people begin to think of warmer climes and booking their annual holiday. I have been asked to remind parents that schools are no longer able to authorise holidays during term-time. I would also like to remind parents that this is a Government action rather than a school one and is therefore unfortunately beyond our control. KS2 CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE – The Junior children have been practising very hard for the Carol Service on Wednesday 18th December. EVERY CHILD in Mr Crook, Mrs Loughran and Mrs Richardson’s class are expected to attend this beautiful service and should arrive in Church for 7pm in full school uniform. Wine and mince pies will be served after the concert. P.T.O. INTERIM REPORTS - Your child’s interim report giving an update of progress this term will be sent home on Tuesday. If the report raises any questions or concerns, please feel free to make an appointment to see your child’s class teacher. Teachers will be available after school on Wednesday and Thursday next week. Interim reports are sent home at Christmas and Easter and are designed to give a snap shot of children’s progress based on ongoing teacher assessments and the effort that children are putting into their work. Full reports will be sent home in the summer term. GOVERNORS 100 CLUB DECEMBER DRAW - 1st £25 L. Lakeland, 2nd £15 F. Percival, 3rd £10 D. Lowe, 4th £5 D. Park. The Quarterly Prize £35 V. Priest and the Christmas Special £100 D. Biswas CHRISTINGLE SERVICE - You are all warmly invited to attend the Christingle Service at St Lawrence Church on Christmas Eve at 6pm. This is a beautiful carol service during which every child is given a Christingle. A significant number of children from the school attend this service with their families and a number of them then go across to the Boar’s Head for a preChristmas drink before heading home to leave a mince pie for Santa and a carrot for Rudolf. It is lovely for the children to get together and share their excitement and a great way to begin the Christmas festivities
