CLARENDON JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS OCTOBER 2015 AFTERSCHOOL CLUBS Our After School Clubs are now up and running. Thank you for your patience when collecting your child – there are obviously a lot of parents to reunite with their child at 4pm. To try and alleviate the congestion in the Reception area, the Art, Computing and Y3/4 football clubs will be in the hall at 4pm so if your child attends one of these clubs, they can be collected from the hall when clubs finish. Clubs will run until Tuesday 1st December, although there will be no clubs on Tuesday 20th October or Tuesday 17th November. SCHOOL MEALS Our hot school meal provision is up and running. Menus are on the website and paper copies are available from the school office as are pre-printed envelopes for you to return your food orders. As the meals are not prepared on site, we have to order the meals on a Wednesday morning for the next week, so are unable to take any more orders after this point. Unfortunately the free school meals you will have seen promoted through the media are only for children in KS1 [ie up to age 7] so there is a charge of £2.50 per meal for this service. SECONDARY SCHOOL APPLICATIONS We recently sent out a letter to parents and carers of Y6 children letting you know about this year’s arrangements for applying for a secondary school place for next September. This now has to be done online by the end of October. A copy of the letter is on our website [www.clarendonjuniors.co.uk] if your child has not brought one home to you. FRENCH CAFÉ It was great to see so many of our families joining us for the French Café last Friday after school. We hope you enjoyed the little taste of France, the pain au chocolat were particularly popular! We hope to hold more events like this throughout the year. A big thank you must go to our Modern Foreign Languages Leader, Mrs Coates who organised the event. PARENTS EVENING Letters will be going out to you shortly to invite you to our parents’ evenings which are due to take place from 3.30 – 6pm on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st October. All appointments take place in our school hall and we look forward to welcoming you into to school to share how your child has settled in their new Year Group. ABSENCE If your child is absent from school would you please inform us either in person or by telephone [01980 607007] before 10am. Thank you. RED, WHITE AND BLUE DAY Each year, we support Red, White and Blue Day which this year will be held on Friday 9th October.
