The Placement Management Partnership (PMP) is a centralised online system organising placements for students studying NHS London contracted programmes in the Allied Health professions. This covers the following disciplines: Occupational Therapy Physiotherapy Podiatry Speech and Language Therapy The placement management online system has been developed to incorporate all the requirements for each discipline. The web address is http://www.pmpartnership.org.uk The database contains information relating to each participating HEI, these are: Brunel University Canterbury Christ Church University City University London South Bank University King’s College London Kingston University & St George’s University London Oxford Brookes University University College London University of East London It also contains all information relating to the NHS Trusts and their providers. The main aim of the system is to obtain and report on placement demand, availability and uptake. The information on the database is continuously updated through regular communication between the PMP Team, HEIs and clinical contacts. The PMP team is located in Sheffield and will help coordinate clinical placements for all disciplines; the key contacts are: Physiotherapy – Charlotte Adams Occupational Therapy – Ann Butler Podiatry – Ann Butler Speech and Language Therapy – Sarah Watts The HEI staff are also responsible for providing the placement demand and information relating to their own students. The Providers are responsible for providing the placement availability by responding to the placement demand. This is done with the Request and Offer facility on the PMP website. For pre placement information e.g. recommended reading, please visit the required provider page and access the information via the documents page. 3 Information for placement providers If you are new to the PMP system, please contact PMP by email or telephone on: support.pmpartnership@tribalgroup.com Tel. 0844 811 5037 The PMP team will provide a unique log-in and information about how to upload your placement offers for your chosen HEI(s). When the offer is made live it then becomes accessible to the HEI for allocation. It is also helpful if you can provide specific placement information to PMP. This includes; Clinical educator (and clinical coordinator)details as appropriate Location of placement Travel information and access Specific considerations (e.g. working hours, uniform requirements, normal meal breaks etc) Availability of accommodation (and contact for this) Specific reading lists or preparatory information Oversubscribed and non-allocated placements On some occasions we have a number of surplus offers so any placements that are not used by the HEI will be ‘opened’ to the other London HEI’s. Acceptance of the placement change will be discussed by the HEI or PMP team with the placement provider. Contact with placement providers HEI’s will continue to liaise closely with placement providers to discuss students who have specific clinical education requirements. Please ensure that you update your contact details regularly. Documentation and auditing process All London HEI’s will continue to use the standard clinical placement assessment. Audits are now to be completed online via the PMP system. You will be notified by email if you are asked to complete an Audit. Senior Lecturer Practice Education and Clinical Co-ordinator at Kingston University and St George’s University of London will also respond to any queries around the PMP. Please contact Mary Jane Cole m.cole@sgul.kingston.ac.uk 4 Information for physiotherapy students Allocation of clinical placement blocks As a student at a London University your physiotherapy clinical placements will be allocated by the clinical education team through the placement management partnership (PMP) system. What do I need to do? When the clinical education team at your HEI have confirmed your clinical placement, you will receive an e mail from PMP. It will look like this; You will also receive a unique ‘log-in’ and password for the PMP site. Please do not share this information as it will be yours for the duration of your clinical training and will allow you to access your placement profiles and audit information. Contact your placement provider as detailed in the email message and use your additional information to help in your preparation for the placement area. Please remember it is good practice to use your University e mail address for all issues pertaining to your physiotherapy training. If you are unclear about the placement location or information relating to your placement, please contact your clinical education team at your HEI. 5 Documentation and audit process All physiotherapy students who are training at a London HEI will use a standardised Clinical Placement Assessment Form. These forms will be provided by your university. Feedback Your clinical experience is an integral part of your training to be a Physiotherapist and we are keen to hear about your placement experience. The PMP system provides an ‘online’ student questionnaire which must be completed after each clinical placement block. This information is visible to your HEI so they can use the information provided to evaluate the placement experience at a particular placement provider. Please note the questionnaires are anonymous – the placement provider doesn’t have access to your answers unless you download the completed questionnaire and send it to them. 6
