Detailed Description of Judging Process The emcee will introduce the candidate and tell which club they represent and how many years they have been in 4-H. The emcee will then ask the candidate to tell a little about themselves. This information should include the following: projects you have been involved in in 4-H, hobbies, interests, and future plans and goals. The emcee will then ask the candidate two questions. 1. Finish this statement with a few brief words… “4-H is…”. 2. If you had one word to describe yourself, what word would you pick and why? The candidate will then be asked to draw an impromptu question out of a bowl. The candidate will read the question silently and then hand it to the emcee. The emcee will then proceed to read the question aloud. The candidate will then reply after thinking through his or her response. After the impromptu question, the judges may ask any questions they may have for the candidate. This may be something about their summary sheet or about what they have just said. The emcee will then thank the candidate and the candidate will then take a seat. The next candidate (according to order drawn) will then be asked to approach the stage. After all the candidates have finished their interview process, the candidates should be given a round of applause. The emcee will then dismiss the judges to do their final scoring.
