11. Aims of the Programme

To provide students with the necessary skills to recognize the importance of event
planning. Students will also examine of the scale and scope of the events sector and be
able to identify the key characteristics of events in order to understand the business of
events management as a service activity. To equip students with a range of transferable
skills and to develop students’ ability to work independently.

15. Personal Development Planning
Students will be expected to take personal responsibility for learning and continued
professional development. The personal skills expected to be developed are; communication
and presentational; numeracy and CIT; interactive and group; problem solving; ability to plan
and manage learning.
A reflective journal will be used to monitor progress and analyse performance over a specific
period. It will involve students reflecting on their own personal and professional strengths
and weaknesses whilst identifying a range of skills developed during the programme.
16. Admissions criteria
Programme Specifications include minimum entry requirements, including academic qualifications,
together with appropriate experience and skills required for entry to study. These criteria may be
expressed as a range rather than a specific grade. Amendments to entry requirements may have
been made after these documents were published and you should consult the University’s website for
the most up to date information.
Students will be informed of their personal minimum entry criteria in their offer letter.
Level 3 qualification or relevant industrial experience. All students will be expected to attend
an interview with Head of Provision or Programme co-ordinator
