I think the question i find most interesting is number 5 on my blog, Should society be afraid of Goths. This is in my opinion the most interesting question because i think it’s safe to say that the majority of the middle/high class of society believes that dressing Gothic is very unorthodox and especially after the columbine shootings, it may cause fear. People will be able to relate to this because we pretty much all remember the columbine shootings and how the media portrayed the shooters which i believe caused people to fear Goths. So i believe that i have a strong arguement when the question “should they be feared” comes up, the answer i’m going to fight for is NO. They shouldnt be feared. The message i want to convey is that Gothic people aren’t all violent and that they are only seen like that because of the way the media portrayed them especially after the Columbine shootings. I want to show the audience how pathetic and judgemental they are being when they see a Gothic person. My intended audience will be middle/higher class with more conservative values who fear Goths. My intended audience is more conservative, more traditional and used to doing things the way they have always been done such as dressing a certain way. This audience automatically sees Goths as unorthodox and dont understand them. People usually tend to fear what they dont understand. Im planning on using Logos, which is going to be logic in this case. It isn’t logical to fear all Goths because the way they dress resembles the columbine shooters. Just because two people who wore Gothic clothing did something horrible, it shouldn’t ruin the way society or this audience looks at Gothic kids now. I will convey my appeal through a picture. The setting will be at a school and there will be a Gothic kid coming to class, walking throug the enterance of the school. As he walks through the doors every one gets frightened and a nearby a security officer calls for backup and tells a nearby student to be prepared to get down. The Gothic kid sees all this and simple says “Uhhh yea im here for the ACT testing?”
