Children are allowed to live on premise with the mother and the women are provided the opportunity to conquer addiction and learn parenting skills. MISSION STATEMENT Our mission at Beacon is to provide a transitional living experience focus on continued treatment of recovering women and women with children, and to increase community awareness of the needs of women recovering from alcohol and/or other chemical dependency. Our first and foremost goal is total abstinence. Recovery is encouraged through the continued development of the "whole woman" by bringing her mental, social, physical, emotional and spiritual capabilities into focus and helping her develop healthy attitudes and lifestyles. This will be accomplished through continued work on the Twelve Step program and individual assessment and development of a specific program plan. Park Avenue Fond du Lac, WI 54935 920-922-9487 Our Program At Blandine, group therapy, individual counseling, off-site self-help group meetings and sponsorship serve as the core components to our approach. We believe that educating our residents about the disease of addiction and relapse prevention is an essential part of the recovery process. We support the 12 Step philosophy. During their stay the gentlemen of Blandine are actively involved in the upkeep of the house. They perform the daily chores which include cooking, cleaning, gardening, lawn mowing, painting, etc. Brushing up on basic living skills helps prepare residents for the transition back into the "real world". Upon discharge, all Blandine residents are encouraged to participate in our 12 month aftercare program. These houses are gender specific and offer a step down approach as clients leave Drug and Alcohol in –patient facilities. This gives the “new to recovery” individual a chance to transition into the community yet still have the atmosphere of a sober living environment. Individuals are expected to work and attend 12 step support groups, and pay a nominal rental fee. House meetings occur once a week for accountability purposes and to discuss any community living issues. Services are offered across the lifespan, from children with severe emotional disturbance to elders with dementia. Treatment is individualized, based on strengths as well as needs, and can occur on a one-to-one basis or in the group setting. Professionals from many disciplines make up the treatment teams, including psychiatrist, psychologist, psychiatric social worker, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, nurses aid, occupational therapist, certified 10 HUMAN SERVICES DIRECTORY occupational therapist assistant, and outreach worker. Support staff includes the Medical Records Department, billing, intake and reception. DCP is regulated by the State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services (DHFS). We are funded by State, Federal and County dollars. Most services require co-pay based on the State of Wisconsin Sliding Fee Schedule. Some insurance benefits are also accepted. Inpatient services are provided on the Acute Psychiatric Unit and include mental health evaluation/treatment and detoxification/stabilization from alcohol/drugs. DCP contracts with several other counties who purchase these services for their residents as well. Outpatient services are provided to residents of Fond du Lac County only. Philosophy Fond du Lac County Department of Community Programs serves as a comprehensive community mental health center for Fond du Lac County and other surrounding counties to provide inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, crisis intervention, prevention, consultation and education services that meet federal guidelines and state requirements. The philosophy is to provide to persons with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and alcohol and drug abuse/dependency prompt, effective and comprehensive intervention and to do so with competence and cultural sensitivity. Objectives 1. Prompt and timely intervention tailored to individual needs with a person-centered, strength-based, recovery-oriented focus. 2. Provision of services that are efficient and cost-effective as well as helpful and treatmenteffective. 3. For survivors of domestic violence, Solutions Center offers services that help them and their children move toward safe and independent violence-free lives. Homelessness Because the root causes of homelessness may vary widely from person to person, only through an individualized and comprehensive approach to programs and services can broken lives be mended and transformed. At the Solutions Center, we offer clients a wide range of resources to guide a person from a place of need to a place of independence. 12 HUMAN SERVICES DIRECTORY Serving People in Need Solutions Center provides shelter for men, women and children, up to 35 people at a time. Over 350 individuals are sheltered annually, including 150 children. Most guests come to the shelter to escape domestic violence, or after being evicted by landlords or family members. Evictions result from family break-ups, disasters, living expenses exceeding income, domestic violence, and other reasons.
