




Your placement is separate to, yet concurrent with APS1&2
You must commence placement 4 to 6 weeks prior to APS 1 and remain on placement for the entire 2 terms until completion of
APS2 – and sometimes longer to ensure you cover the minimum hours. This could be up to 8 months (minimum 240 hours or 34
days and 80 hours of counselling commencing the second session of APS1)
You cannot enrol into APS1 or 2 without first registering a placement (enrolment is blocked).
Students must receive clinical supervision whenever they are counselling clients. ACAP will provide fortnightly supervision
outside APS units if required.
Students must not commence placement until it has been registered and you receive an email informing you that you may start.
Students are not insured until their placement has been approved by ACAP.
Preparation and search: Commence the
search at least 3 months before your
intended start date. Access resources in the
Placement Preparation class space under My
Classes. READ ALL INFORMATION and follow
all steps.
Register your placement using Confirmation
form in Placement Prep class space, then
enroll in APS1.
Min 240 hr placement commences 4 to 6 weeks
before term starts.
End of the second term: If all hours are
done, complete placement. If not, continue in
placement and contact student placement
for fortnightly clinical supervision groups.
Submit your supervisor report, experience
log and clinical supervision log to the student
placement team no more than 4 weeks after
completing the placement.
Commence APS1:
This is a clinical supervision unit offered either
on campus or online in a scheduled webinar
through Blackboard Collaborate. Students must
present the clinical counselling they are doing
with clients by the second session.
Submit learning contract to both APS1 clinical
supervisor AND to Student Placement team.
Book Mid placement review early in APS 1.
Following term: Commence APS2. This is
the second clinical supervision unit. Most
students will remain with their APS1 group.
