Advanced Placement and Supervision units 1 & 2 (APS1 & 2) Your placement is separate to, yet concurrent with APS1&2 You must commence placement 4 to 6 weeks prior to APS 1 and remain on placement for the entire 2 terms until completion of APS2 – and sometimes longer to ensure you cover the minimum hours. This could be up to 8 months (minimum 240 hours or 34 days and 80 hours of counselling commencing the second session of APS1) You cannot enrol into APS1 or 2 without first registering a placement (enrolment is blocked). Students must receive clinical supervision whenever they are counselling clients. ACAP will provide fortnightly supervision outside APS units if required. Students must not commence placement until it has been registered and you receive an email informing you that you may start. Students are not insured until their placement has been approved by ACAP. Preparation and search: Commence the search at least 3 months before your intended start date. Access resources in the Placement Preparation class space under My Classes. READ ALL INFORMATION and follow all steps. Register your placement using Confirmation form in Placement Prep class space, then enroll in APS1. Min 240 hr placement commences 4 to 6 weeks before term starts. End of the second term: If all hours are done, complete placement. If not, continue in placement and contact student placement for fortnightly clinical supervision groups. Submit your supervisor report, experience log and clinical supervision log to the student placement team no more than 4 weeks after completing the placement. Commence APS1: This is a clinical supervision unit offered either on campus or online in a scheduled webinar through Blackboard Collaborate. Students must present the clinical counselling they are doing with clients by the second session. Submit learning contract to both APS1 clinical supervisor AND to Student Placement team. Book Mid placement review early in APS 1. Following term: Commence APS2. This is the second clinical supervision unit. Most students will remain with their APS1 group.
