Practical Information for Participants

1. INTRODUCTION

A regional seminar on "

Spectrum Management and terrestrial TV broadcast in Pacific

" is being organized by ITU with support from Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP) – Republic of Korea and hosted by Ministry of Justice and Communications-Fiji.

This document provides some practical information on frequently asked questions about the events, including logistical details.

2. VENUE

The event will take place at Tanoa International Hotel, Votualevu Road, Namaka, Nadi, Fiji. Hotel Contacts are as follows:

3. HOTEL & TRANSPORTATION

The Tanoa International Hotel is located approximately 3 KMs (5 minute drive) from the Nadi International Airport.

Hotel has a free transportation to pick up its guests provided your itinerary is advised in advance. (Trainees are requested to book the pick up by themselves).

Alternatively , a taxi service is available. The approximate taxi fare from the airport to the Tanoa International

Hotel is F$9.00 (USD5.00). It is recommended you confirm the price with the driver before you depart.

Note : A Departure Tax of F$20 is payable at Nadi International Airport on departure. Most airlines include the

Departure Tax in their ticket prices.

4. PASSPORTS AND VISAS

All travellers to Fiji must have a valid passport for at least three (3) months beyond the intended length of stay in

Fiji and a ticket for return or onward travel to another country to which he/she is authorized to enter. Citizens of most Pacific Islands countries are exempt an entry visa. Please check with your travel agents the appropriate visas and documentation necessary for your entry into Fiji.

The responsible authority on entry requirements and issuing permits into Fiji is the Department of Immigration http://www.immigration.gov.fj

Participants who require an entry visa should apply for a visa at a Fiji consulate or diplomatic mission in their respective country well in advance of their departure. If you require a visa supporting letter from the Government

5. ABOUT FIJI

Fiji is approximately 18 degrees South latitude of the equator and has a warm and tropical climate. The average daytime temperature during the cool season (July/August) is 15-25 degrees Celsius. Summer clothing with a light jacket is recommended for during the day but it can get cool at night therefore smart casual attire. Island Shirts are encouraged. 6. LANGUAGE

Fijian is the language in Fijia, but English is widely understood in major hotels, restaurants, banks and businesses.

The training will be held in English.

7. CURRENCY AND BANKING

The local currency is Fiji Dollars. International Banks operating in Nadi include ANZ and Westpac. The Exchange rate is approximately F$1.00= US$0.484. Major Credit Cards are accepted at most hotels, retail outlets and ATMs.

Most hotels, restaurants, car rental agencies, department stores and shops accept major credit cards (American

Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, VISA and unionpay card). Usually there is a sticker at the entrance indicating which cards are accepted.

8. ELECTRICITY:

Electricity voltage is 230/240 volts with pin configuration similar to Australia and New Zealand. You are advised to take along your universal adaptor if you are from any other country with dissimilar pin configuration and voltages.
