December 2011 the new, state-of-the-art University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital opened to the public, bringing with it a new era in family-centered patient care. Please join us as Dr. Chris Dickinson and Loree Collett share the journey of “old” to “new” as UM Health System faculty and staff prepared, moved and established the new children’s and women’s hospital. They will also discuss aspects of their clinical outreach, and the ways in which this wonderful facility will continue to transform and drive the future of children’s medicine and women’s pregnancy and childbirth care. Loree Collett RN, BSN, MSBA is the Associate Hospital Director for the C.S. Mott Children’s and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital. In this role, she is the lead for all Children’s and Women’s Services and provides strategic direction, administrative and operational leadership to multiple services, functions and hospital settings. She came to the UM C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in 1987, beginning her pediatric nursing career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Her interests in leadership lead her to the Pediatric Post Anesthesia Care Unit and Pediatric Operating Rooms where she was the Clinical Nurse Manager. She accepted the role of interim Director of Nursing for Pediatrics, Perinatal and Psychiatry services in 2003 and joined the Children’s and Women’s replacement hospital project as an Associate Hospital Administrator in 2004. In this role, Ms. Collett lead the design, operational and activation plans for the $754M Children’s and Women’s Hospital Replacement Project which opened on December 4, 2012. Ms. Collett received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Toledo, and a Master of Science in Business from Madonna University. On April 5, 2012 Dr. Chris J. Dickinson was appointed as the Interim Executive Director for the University of Michigan, C.S. Mott Children’s and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital. Dr. Dickinson has been deeply involved in safety and quality initiatives throughout the entire health system since becoming an Associate Chief. In his new role Dr. Dickinson will continue to focus on and achieve new safety and quality standards in the new C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital. Dr. Dickinson attended Wayne State University in Detroit where he received a B.A. in Chemistry, and an M.D. degree in 1981. He completed his General Pediatric Residency at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1984, he began a Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Dr. Dickinson became a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics in July 1986, and continued to serve as the chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology, from July 1999 - June 2011. SAVETHE DATE!
