ROCKET SPORTS INFORMATION WEEK 4 REVIEW
Rocket Nation,
This week is homecoming week. Our campus is filled with anticipation and
excitement. The energy level is high and the students have promised to come
out in full force. Our hope is that this Homecoming will be the largest attended
game at the Mount in recent memory. So all of Rocket Nation are encouraged to
be there Friday night at 7pm to enjoy the festivities of Homecoming. The
Homecoming Court will be escorted and announced at halftime.
So let’s do some recaps and let’s keep rolling BIG BLUE!!!
CHEER
The girls did fantastic last weekend at Midwest City High School finishing 3rd in
Regionals. You would have been especially proud of our girls as they were
awaiting the results, they invited the Douglas cheer squad to come over to their
huddle and cheer with them. It was a pretty cool and thoughtful gesture. Their
routine was flawless and their success will do them well as they turn their
attention to State Cheer this weekend. We hope you join us this Saturday in
Stillwater at OSU.
COACH STILES SAYSI particularly want to thank the Rocket fans who attended Regionals at MWC
High School on Saturday. When the girls came through that tunnel and looked
up and saw all of that sea of Rocket Blue they were filled with joy. There was no
doubt that MSM had more fans than any other school. And a special thanks to
Spirit and Blue Crew Director Sean Lipps for your energy , enthusiasm and
Rocket Pride.
SOFTBALL
It was senior night last Thursday night at Joe Rischard Field and our girls put it all
together both defensively and offensively to beat Millwood 14-6. Elizabeth
Cordova hit a towering home run to center field as our seniors Kiersten Love, Molly
Carlson, Makenzie Hudson, Kayla Gallagher and Paige Whalen played their last
home game.
COACH MARTIN SAYSOur girls appreciated all who came out for senior night and were especially
thankful for the many teachers who came out. This Thursday we travel to Jones
for District Play. The playoff is best 2 out of 3 and our girls and coaches feel
some good momentum as a result of the Millwood victory. So we ask Rocket
nation to come out to Jones on Thursday and cheer on our girls to victory.
VOLLEYBALL
Our Volleyball girls just keep on winning. Last weekend our girls took a trip up to
Tulsa to participate in the Lincoln Christian Invitational in Tulsa. Boosters paid for
them to spend the night Friday night (thanks Boosters). Friday and Saturday was
filled with Rocket winning volleyball. Here is a news brief from the Daily
Oklahoman on the Rockets win last weekend over #1 RANKED Lincoln Christian.

COACH JEKEL SAYSThe lady Rocket Volleyball team took first place last weekend in the Lincoln
Christian Volleyball Tournament. Our girls played incredible volleyball and the
girls defeated five teams and beat #1 Lincoln Christian in the finals match.
Jill Ruhl and Carmen Kinsey were named all -tournament team and Jill
was also named tournament MVP. Congratulations to all the girls for
having a great tournament! The next match for the team is Friday and
Saturday in Norman at CCS for their conference tournament.

COACH RUPEL SAYSWe are all very proud of our Cross Country Ladies! Great team effort. As
mentioned above the girls were ranked 18th in 4A (not realistic based on
Piedmont). We beat the #3 and #4 ranked teams! Great team running! Way to
go girls.
Gabby Sanderson again led the Lady Rockets for a medal and with last
weeks’ time is in the TOP 11 MSM ALL TIME records. Kylie Dowers was just out
of the medals with another great run and a PR and is in the TOP 18 ALL TIME
MSM Times. Our National Merit Semifinalist Rachel Parizek had a great effort
<<...>> and as team captain, was a huge factor in the awesome TEAM effort
(her PR is 13:30 at Santa Fe which is one of the TOP 17 MSM TIMES). Mikaela
Stine is running with injury and PR’d and in the TOP 30 MSM times. Reagan
Ingram was right behind the senior with a PR and is has one of the TOP 30 MSM
times. Madeline Martin, our great rookie ran tough (injury as well) and had a PR
and displaced another team’s 5th runner. Alicia Cornelius ran a solid race and is
coming back from allergies. Tremendous effort ladies. I appreciate all of your
hard work. Marian Sorrels ran in her first race back and captured a medal in
the JV race!
Our Rocket Men are a relatively young team but still made their “stamp” at
OBU with a 6th place finish among 23 teams. I was very impressed with the
running. You guys all helped each other and almost everyone had a PR. The
improvements over last year are very impressive. You should all be proud of
yourselves for “stepping up” and getting mentally tough.
Garret Kinsey led the way again with another PR and medaled. He also
cracked the TOP 10 List of MSM Best Times. Bennett Barnett was close behind
for another medal and a PR and has one of the TOP 15 MSM Best Times. Chris
Ooley had an impressive improvement from last year (4 minutes) and despite
having an “IT issue” had a PR. Christian Yabut just keeps improving (another PR)
and has been a real gift to the team with his hard work and competitive
attitude. Caleb Sanderson just keeps getting better with another PR and is
consistently pounding out the mileage. Despite having serious allergy problems,
Ryan Baker ran so tough, he had a PR. Nick Parizek was sick the first part of the
week but came close to his PR and improved by 9 minutes from last year! I am
not used to having enough guys for a JV team, but our guys took 7th out of 12
teams! Senior Hayden Doyle is recovering from a foot injury but led the way
with a PR. I love Hayden’s attitude for the last 4 years and appreciate his
leadership. Erick Huffine, Galen Hanby and Ben Krodel all pushed each other to
new PRs! Great job! Sam Kinnamon ran his first race ever and scored for the JV
team as the 5th runner! Both Hayden Arthur and Ray Matsumoto keep at it and
both had PRs. You can be proud of yourselves for competing in a tough
program. Check out this photo finish of Rachel Parizek.

Special thanks to all of the Rocket fans who made the 2 hour trip down to
Dickson. That is one thing that I can always depend on is support of the Rocket
Nation. Also would like to thank the cheerleaders who came down to Dickson
and braved the late night to finish third in your Regional Competition on
Saturday. Our football team is so excited about this Homecoming week and our
game against Bridge Creek. We have watched a lot of film and practiced hard
and we will be ready. Can’t wait to play Friday night!
