Class Peer Review
I assume that the heading will be filled out with course title, location, and date. If not, then we
need those on the heading.
I imagine the form to look something like this below the heading:
The Peer review was developed in an attempt to identify potential issues within our adjunct
instructor cadre before they become problems. The Peer Reviews will be viewed by a small
select group of program administrators and will be confidential in nature. Please take the time to
rate your fellow instructors accurately.
The Peer Review is designed to be a career development tool to assist the administration in
identifying individual instructors that may need additional tools or training to help them instruct
at their highest level possible and also used to identify those instructors who have taken their
level of instruction to the next level.
Please rate your fellow adjunct instructors on their overall performance during the above listed
class. Please use the following guidelines to complete the form:
1 Instructor demonstrated major deficiencies that will require extensive training or behavior
modification to correct.
2 Instructor demonstrated some deficiencies in administrative and operational procedures*
during the class. Issues were corrected on the spot and performance will improve with
experience and consistent performance.
3 Instructor demonstrated proficiency in all administrative and operational procedures* during
the class. The instructor was well versed in all aspects of the course and performance was a
credit to himself and the ALERRT organization.
4 Instructor demonstrated exceptional proficiency in all aspects of administrative and
operational procedures* during the class. The instructor was dynamic and professional at all
times during instruction and communicated the material in such a way that the students
responded enthusiastically.
5 Instructor demonstrated exceptional performance in all aspects of the course, provided great
leadership and guidance towards other instructors in the teaching team. The instructor’s delivery
of the material was exceptional and gave other instructors a standard by which to strive for.
* Administrative Procedures- examples are: Registration Forms, Waivers of Liability, Pre-Test,
Post-Test, class start times, directions to students for follow-on days, explanation of Certificate
process to students, TV and Print media, disruptive students, armed observers during force on
force training, and other circumstances not directly covered by course curriculum.
* Operational Procedures- examples are covering all course curriculum as outlined, staying
within time restrictions of 20-25 minutes for demonstration and explanation, following learning
objects during force on force scenarios, following all safety protocols, proper demonstrations,
and all other aspects of delivering a dynamic presentation to the students.
Tier Review Instructions
The tier review is a career development tool used to identify instructor’s strengths and
weaknesses. You have been selected to conduct this tier review because the ALERRT program
administrators have the utmost confidence in your abilities and professionalism to act in their
stead.
Tier reviews are of a confidential nature and should not be shared with anyone other than the
instructor being reviewed and the administrative review board members. You are not obligated to
share your rating with the individual being reviewed unless you feel it appropriate and necessary.
Please review all rating categories and score each applicant in accordance with their observed
performance. After each category you are asked to explain your rating. Please include details in
this section. This will assist us in getting a clear picture of the instructor’s capabilities.
Each instructor will be rated on their abilities as it relates to two different and distinct areas,
administrative and operational procedures. These areas are defined as the following:
Administrative Procedures- examples are: Registration Forms, Waivers of Liability, Pre-Test,
Post-Test, class start times, directions to students for follow-on days, explanation of Certificate
process to students, TV and Print media, disruptive students, armed observers during force on
force training, and other circumstances not directly covered by course curriculum.
Operational Procedures- examples are covering all course curriculum as outlined, staying within
time restrictions of 20-25 minutes for demonstration and explanation, following learning objects
during force on force scenarios, following all safety protocols, proper demonstrations, and all
other aspects of delivering a dynamic presentation to the students.
How to Submit the Tier Review
After the class has been completed, you will be required to complete the peer review of all
instructors and the overall course. Once you have submitted the peer review form the Tier
Review form will appear. Transfer all information onto this form from your notes and submit the
form. This will complete the tier review process.
If you have any questions in regards to the Tier Review process please contact Sgt. David Burns
at 512-738-0721.
