Background:
The family and friends of Coach Bob Craddock established this scholarship fund
in his memory in June 2012. Bob spent 35 years teaching physical education and
coaching cross country and track and field in both Raytown and Lee’s Summit
school districts. After his retirement from Lee’s Summit in 1995, he
continued working as an events starter and rules interpreter for the State of
Missouri. In 2002, Coach Craddock and his wife, Susan, moved to Savannah,
Georgia where he volunteered as a coach at several private schools. Inspiring
many of his athletes to become coaches was one of his biggest joys. Bob was a
wonderful mentor and he considered his best athletes not the ones with the most
talent, but the ones who worked hardest and ran “for the team.”
Purpose:
This fund was established to provide financial assistance
to one graduating LSHS cross country runner and one
Track and field athlete.
Number of Recipients: Two
Scholarship Amount:
To be determined
Guidelines:
a. Graduating senior from Lee’s Summit High School
b. Plans to further their education at an accredited college or technical school
c. Must be a cross country runner/track and field athlete for at least 3 years
d. Most improved or valued team player student is a key
e. Grade point average must be at least 2.5
f. Involvement in civic and community activities is important
Process:
The Selection Committee will consist of Craddock family members and LSEF
board members who will review applications and make the recipient
recommendation to the LSEF Board of Directors.
Scholarship Payment:
The Scholarship will be made by a Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation check
payable jointly to the recipient and his or her choice of a higher learning
institution. To receive the scholarship check, recipient must send proof of
enrollment to LSEF, Sheryl Franke, 301 NE Tudor Road, Lee’s Summit, MO
64086.
