Grand Canyon Chapter of NIGP Scholarship Program / Funding Assistance Requirements The Grand Canyon Chapter of NIGP offers its members financial assistance if requested. The chapter will provide assistance only for NIGP or UPPCC recognized procurement classes, or accredited college/university courses, and/or required textbooks or literature. In order to be eligible for available scholarship funds or funding assistance, the individual requesting the award must meet ALL of the following basic criteria: Be a current chapter member and current on membership dues. No other funding is available or has been exhausted Is not currently receiving funding from other sources for the requested education/course Has not received chapter assistance in a 12-month period General Instructions The applicant must follow all guidelines and instructions as outlined in this document to be eligible for award. All required information must be included upon submission. If any information is missing, the application document will be returned to the applicant for completion. Application documents should be submitted to the chapter elected officers. If funds are available, the chapter officers will review applications for acceptance. Application Evaluation Process The chapter officers shall review each application and make award recommendations. Complete applications shall be ranked using the following criteria: 1. Overall demonstrated financial need of the applicant 2. Applicant’s demonstrated commitment to becoming certified in the field of public purchasing 3. Relationship of the course to the field of public purchasing 4. Compatibility of the course to the applicant’s career objective Award recommendations shall be presented to the attending membership at the next chapter meeting. Recommendations shall be approved by no less than a 2/3-majority vote of the attending members. About the Application Document Individuals interested in applying for a scholarship or funding assistance are required to submit an application document comprised of the information outlined below. All information required must be included in your application. Incomplete applications will disqualify the applicant from further consideration, applicant will be notified, and will require resubmission of application. If there are no requirements, provide a statement of this fact How the scholarship or funding will be used to advance your career Course title, description, providing entity, and cost. Include any deadlines for enrollment discounts Do not disclose personal financial information Indicate if funds will be repaid. Include a methodology for any repayment of funds. Inability of repayment shall not disqualify applicant Important information and notes about the program Funds cannot be used for late fees, travel costs, lodging, meals, incidentals, etc. Payment of funds will be made electronically to the providing institution or agency in applicants name Applicant shall repay any refunds from cancel courses, overpayments, etc. to the chapter Every effort will be made to notify applicant in time, if their application requires resubmission, to resubmit within an award period. Award period shall be as follows: o Submission of applications within 30 days prior to scheduled chapter meeting o Review by committee no later than 10 days prior to scheduled chapter meeting o Incomplete applications requiring resubmission may be provided after committee notification, however, personal scheduling of committee members may not allow a second review prior to the scheduled chapter meeting Award recommendations presented to attending chapter members for vote Applicants are solely responsible for the timely submission of requests, allotment of time for review prior to the due date of admissions Evaluation committee members are taking time out of their busy schedules to review applications.
