College of the Redwoods 2013 Commencement Information Eureka Campus Important Dates to Remember Caps & Gowns Available at the CR Bookstore Third week of April *Gown color has changed to maroon to more closely match CR colors.* Cap, Gown, Dated Tassel ~ $33.00 plus tax Honors Cords Available at the CR Bookstore only for those students who receive honors recognition letters. ID will be required and only one cord per graduate. $13.00 plus tax Graduate Rehearsal: Friday, May 10, 2013, 10 a.m. Gymnasium Graduate line-up: Saturday, May 11, 2013, 10 a.m. Gymnasium-Weight Room Commencement Ceremony: Saturday, May 11, 11 a.m. Gymnasium COMMENCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS Printed Commencement announcements are available through the bookstore. Reminder: eligible grads will receive an official letter near the end of April. Until you receive this letter, your grad status is not confirmed. CAPS AND GOWNS Caps and gowns may be purchased in the CR Bookstore during regular store hours, and should be available the third week of April. *Gowns have changed to maroon to more closely match our CR colors.* Cap, gown and dated tassel are $33.00 plus tax. GUESTS Due to limited space, graduates’ family and guests are required to have tickets (free). Graduates are initially allowed five guest tickets. A Ceremony Information Card (blue card) will be mailed with your eligibility letter and must be returned by the indicated date, in order for you to obtain your initial five tickets. You may request more, you may check with fellow graduate to see if they need their five tickets. If there are extra tickets, they will be handed out at the rehearsal and possibly at the door on graduation day. Once we meet capacity in the CR Gym, guests will be directed to our over-fill location in the new Performing Arts Building, to watch the ceremony live on video stream. GRADUATE RECEPTION Graduates and their families, faculty, and staff of College of the Redwoods are cordially invited to attend the Graduate Reception to be held immediately after the ceremony at the new Student Services/Administration Building. Enjoy refreshments and the opportunity to mingle with faculty, staff, and fellow students. VIDEOTAPING The Ceremony will be video-streamed on the CR webpage at www.redwoods.edu. PHOTOGRAPHS AT THE CEREMONY During the ceremony, a professional photographer will photograph each graduate. The photo service will email or mail digital proofs to the graduate depending on the type of address you provide on the GradImages info card available at rehearsal. Pricing and order forms will be provided with the proofs. Family and friends are welcome to take photographs as long as they show courtesy to other guests and do not interrupt the ceremony. SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS To encourage full inclusion, sign language translators will be interpreting the ceremony. SEATING ACCOMODATIONS FOR THOSE UNABLE TO SIT IN THE STANDS For guests who may be attending but who are wheelchair users or unable to climb the stairs into the stands, a limited number of chairs will be available on the floor. AUDIENCE COURTESY Please ask friends and relatives to refrain from bringing balloons to the ceremony. Friends and relatives will be asked to hold on to these for you until after the ceremony and will be asked to stand near the back of the gymnasium to prevent obscuring the view of other guests. GIFTS The Bookstore has a fine selection of gifts for the graduate and will be open on Commencement day, from 9am to 3pm. GRADUATE REMINDERS REHEARSAL – Friday, May 10, 10 a.m. in the gym (you do not need to wear cap/gown to rehearsal). COMMENCEMENT LINE-UP – Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. Gym Weight Room. Please be on time. Be dressed in your cap and gown when you arrive. Be sure your gown is zipped up and your appearance is neat. BE SURE TO BRING YOUR NAME CARD COMMENCEMENT – Saturday, May 11, 11 a.m. Gymnasium Please turn OFF all cell phones before the Ceremony begins. Leave all personal belongings, such as purses, flowers, cards, or gifts with family members. QUESTIONS?
