NATHAN MCMURRY THOMAS

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

This $500 scholarship is from the Nathan McMurry Thomas Fund, Inc., a non-profit organization. The scholarship is given in memory of Nathan Thomas, a Fernwood Middle

School student who died at age 12 in 1992.

Who is eligible? Any Alliance @ Benson High School student who will be graduating at the end of the current school year that shows potential for success in college or in a professional or technical training program and will be graduation

Who will be selected? The selection will be made in part on successes in Alliance @ Benson

High School, by strong interest in a chosen field of study, by accomplishments in classes, community programs, sports or special projects, by commitment to making a contribution to his or her community and/or by overcoming serious personal challenges. The student chosen will be someone who will benefit from the financial, personal and community support offered by this scholarship. The recipient will be expected to report his or her progress during the next year.

What happens next?

The scholarship recipient will be announced at the Alliance @ Benson

High School graduation ceremonies in June. The check will be written directly to the college, university or training program to pay for tuition or other education costs. This scholarship can only be used to offset the student or family contributions to the college institution.
