The NExT Institute (UK) School of Physics & Astronomy - University of Southampton Rutherford Appleton Laboratory – Council for the Central Laboratories of the Research Council NExT Scholarships – Particle Physics Phenomenology The NExT Institute (http://www.hep.phys.soton.ac.uk/next/), a joint venture of the High Energy Physics (SHEP) group at the School of Physics & Astronomy of the University of Southampton (UoS) and the Particle Physics Division (PPD) at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) part of the Council for the Central Laboratories of the Research Council (CCLRC), is offering a PhD Scholarship starting immediately. The following rules apply. 1. It will be fully funded for 3 years and any nationality is eligible to apply. 2. The student will receive subsistence at the level of about £13,000/year (no tax deduced) + all fees + a personal travel allowance of about £1,000/year. 3. The main purpose of the scheme is to provide students with an opportunity to carry out research to a PhD level in the context of the NExT Institute on topics in Particle Physics Phenomenology of direct relevance to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The post is full time research to be divided between SHEP and RAL-PPD. 5. The Scholarship is tenable immediately with latest start date in Autumn/Winter 2007.
