Ragsdale High School * Southwestern Randolph High School * Southern Guilford High School * Southwest Guilford High School Davidson County * Westchester Country Day School, High Point Moore County * Pinecrest High School * The O'Neal School There are several reasons for establishing these boundaries. The first is to express gratitude for those employees who contributed to the building of Elliott Wood's companies by offering something tangible in return to their descendants living in these areas. The second is to honor those brave ancestors who settled in this part of North Carolina during the 18th century. The third reason is to express appreciation for the warm welcome and many rewards extended by these communities where Elliott and Mary Wood lived at various times. Selection Criteria The criteria for awarding these merit-based scholarships include: (1) personal character, (2) leadership potential, and (3) scholastic achievement. You are strongly encouraged to become thoroughly familiar with the "Goals of the Foundation" as articulated by Mary and Elliott Wood. You are required to respond to the goals in the form of an essay, and you must commit yourself to a course of study and eventual employment that will contribute to the fulfillment of these goals. In accordance with IRS guidelines defining disqualified persons, the following persons are not eligible for scholarship awards: family members of the MEWF Board of Governors or Scholarship Committee; and family members of board members or employees of Foundation For The Carolinas (scholarship administrator).
