About the Mary Ann Bagus Memorial Scholarship Fund
The fund was established in 1989 in memory of Mary Ann Bagus, who graduated from the University at
Buffalo in 1970 with a Master’s degree in Modern Languages. When Bagus passed away in 1987, a
portion of her estate was bequeathed to the University to create a scholarship for students with
disabilities who demonstrate both financial need and academic excellence. Each year the University
awards scholarships to students who best meet the criteria of the fund. One prize of $1,000 will be
awarded as well as a number of smaller awards, depending on the availability of funds. Previous
recipients are strongly encouraged to apply again.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Bagus Scholarship, you must:
Be a UB student with a disability
Have applied for Financial Aid for the 2015- 2016 academic year
Have attended UB for at least one previous semester to establish a GPA
Be in good academic standing

Receiving a Scholarship
If selected for a scholarship, you will be notified of your award via email. Checks will be mailed directly
to the address on file with the University.
