Message from the Editor

Ok we are rapidly coming to the close of our

2011/2012 ASQ year, with the last meeting /social event coming up on the Saturday 16 th June. This also means this will be the last newsletter for a couple of month. Yah!! We are dark during July and August, so that we can all enjoy the summer and the new leadership team can start planning for next year. By the way it is not too late to volunteer for this team as we still have some positions open. I would be delighted if you would like to earn some extra RU’s and give a little of your time in helping our section be successful. Drop me an email allen@aerotronics.net

if you are interested.

Community Out-Reach

Here is another opportunity for us to reach out into our community by volunteering to assist in a program that encourages the youth to get interested and, hopefully stay interested, in a technical career.

I met Dr. Jerry Clifford at the National Engineering

Week Banquette where I had the honor of presenting him with an award for his outstanding work in encouraging High School Student to become interested in engineering.

Engineering Innovation (EI) Lite is a pre-college program for underserved and underrepresented students based on the very successful Engineering

Innovation program developed by Johns Hopkins

University School of Engineering. It has been designed to challenge students who may not have the academic background or experience that would prepare them for the college-level EI program.

Dr. Clifford currently teaches physics and astronomy at California State University Channel Island, and he has introduced the EI Lite program to meet the specific needs of the Hueneme High Schools

Engineering Pathways program.

If you are interested in helping out with this summer program by introducing these students to quality tools that may encourage them to seek a career in the

Quality Field, then let me know and I can send you more information about this program.
