INFORMATION
WHAT IS THE THREE-WAY SCHOLARSHIP AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Three-Way Scholarship is a scholarship that involves the matching of funds between your local church, the Southwest Region
Conference, and your college. The way it works is: your local church sends two hundred dollars ($200.00) to the Conference Office
of Education; the Conference matches this with another two hundred dollars ($200.00); and your college grants two hundred dollars
($200.00), for a total of six hundred dollars ($600.00).
Students attending Southwest Adventist University are required to match the $200.00. Therefore, students from Southwest Adventist
University will be granted a total of eight hundred dollars ($800.00). That would be $200.00 from the church, $200.00 from the
conference, $200.00 from the University, and $200.00 from the student. Nonparticipating students will be granted $400.00 ($200.00
from the church and $200.00 from the conference).
The Southwest Region Conference will ONLY match funds for Institutions that are located within the United States. Scholarships may
be awarded to adventist universities/colleges who do not grant the matching funds. In this case, the scholarship would be considered a
Two-Way Scholarship ($200.00 from the church and $200.00 from the conference).
The Southwest Region Conference will only match scholarships as funds are available on a first come first serve basis. Because
scholarships are granted on a first come first serve basis, meeting the required deadline is imperative but does not automatically ensure
that you will be a scholarship recipient.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Adventist students attending an adventist university/college are eligible.
Children of employees are not eligible to receive this scholarship.
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR FUNDS/INFORMATION TO BE IN?
The deadline for all funds/information to be in the Conference Office of Education is November 30.
WHEN ARE THESE FUNDS APPLIED TO MY COLLEGE ACCOUNT?
These funds are applied to your college account during the second semester. Therefore, it is your responsibility to ensure that
proper financial arrangements are made at the beginning of the semester.
WHEN WILL MY COLLEGE BE NOTIFIED OF MY BEING AWARDED THIS SCHOLARSHIP?
The College/University will be notified of this scholarship award in December. Therefore, no funds will be posted at this time.
WHO IS TO SUBMIT THE FUNDS/INFORMATION FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP?
Your church treasurer is responsible for submitting the funds/information for the Three-Way Scholarship. During the month of
October, a letter is sent from the Conference Office of Education to the pastor and treasurer of each church. It is extremely important
that your church treasurer sends the following information along with the check of $200.00 per student: 1. each student’s full name
(first, middle, and last); 2. the college/university each student is attending; 3. the social security number of each student.
IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS AND MEET THE DEADLINE, YOUR CHECK WILL BE RETURNED TO YOUR
CHURCH!!!
***ATTENTION: OAKWOOD UNIVERSITY STUDENTS***
If you are attending Oakwood University, Oakwood will only match an undisclosed number of scholarships per academic year.
Because scholarships are granted on a first come first serve basis, meeting the required deadline is imperative but does not
automatically ensure that you will be a scholarship recipient
