2014 Junior Tennis Scholarship Application
Introduction
The Northern Tennis Foundation is the charitable arm of the USTA Northern Section. Its mission is to
enhance the quality of life for present and future generations through the lifetime sport of tennis. A goal
of the Foundation is to encourage children to pursue their goals and highest dreams by succeeding in
school and becoming responsible citizens.
Scholarships Offered
The Foundation offers scholarships to youth age 10 – 17 that reside within the USTA Northern Section
and have a financial hardship that prevents them from pursuing tennis related interests. Scholarships can
be used for: tennis program fees, tournament expenses, equipment, court fees, or coaching services. We
currently offer the following scholarships:
 Diverse Player Scholarship: This scholarship was created with input from the USTA Northern
Diversity Council and supports the level one priority of Diversity within USTA Northern. It is
available to young people of ethnically diverse heritage who have excelled academically and
participated in an organized community tennis program.
 Serving Up Love Scholarship: This scholarship is made possible through the generous donations
of our founding members. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to education, their
community, and have participated in an organized tennis program.
Funding Awards
Scholarship awards typically range from $250 - $1,000 and are based on financial need.

Tennis involvement, past success, and potential
School achievement-Minimum 3.0 GPA or equivalent
Sportsmanship on and off the court

January disbursement, April 18 for May disbursement, August 15 for September disbursement.
