Action Items/Discussion: A new TC meeting schedule was discussed for the fall. The committee decided to meet the last Monday of each month from 12:15-1:30pm. Every effort will be made to keep meetings brief and productive. The TC will try to meet twice annually with the men’s tennis group. The Tennis Committee is in need of new members. All present will try to encourage participation and recruit new members. Diane and Roberta will work on finalizing the movement criteria for league players. Susan Jack is no longer a liaison member of the TC and will not be able to finish this project. Once the movement criteria is finalized, it will go to the Board for approval. The Ball Machine Proposal was approved by the BOG pending availability of funds. Projected date of installation is fall 2006. The sign-up policy on the upper courts board has been removed. The policy needs to be posted in a closed case. Rules will be reviewed at our next meeting and will then be posted. Rules should also be posted on the lower courts in a closed case. The lower courts also need a sign-up board. Captains are responsible for blocking out courts on the court sign-up board to avoid confusion for non-match players. The $2,000 discretionary budget for the Tennis Committee should be used to supplement tennis social events. A discussion on fundraising by the tennis committee for specific items or improvements was tabled until the next meeting. Announcements Mixed Doubles Club Championship scheduled for September 23-24 open to all levels. Quad Cup is scheduled for September 16-17 – clubs are TPC, BTC, Mill Valley and Scott Valley (host) A Team social will be scheduled by Diane Bradford Mixed USTA Teams must register in July. Captains are needed for the 6.0, 7.0 and 9.0 teams. Tennis Director’s Report Cardio Tennis is going well. This summer for the first time there are Adult Tennis Clinics. Steve will update us on this program at the next meeting. New program for Seniors just for the summer: Clinics planned for Monday and Wednesday from 10:00-11:30am on the new soft courts. With all the construction needs, the maintenance staff is being pulled away from tennis maintenance. Steve is requesting a point person to go to on the TPC staff that will be dedicated to tennis. Cell phone or pager contact would be a big help in communicating to the maintenance staff. Steve would also like to have more staffing in the Tennis office. He should be getting 20 hours of time but with Sally is only getting 9 hours. Steve would like to change the structure of the junior program for the fall. He requested a block of time for all age groups and abilities to run at the same time. This will allow more flexibility for the players and the instructors and will make the junior program stronger. The TC approved this change for a trial period starting September through November 1. The new block period would run from 3:30 to 6:00 Monday through Thursday. The next meeting will be Monday, July 24th at 12:15 at the Tiburon Town Hall Community Room.
