Dorothy Schure Memorial Award: (One per campus)Dorothy Schure, a founder and member of the Board of Trustees of
NYIT, annual cash awards are granted to
students whose extracurricular activities reflect concern, support and dedication to the college community at large.
Evan Rubin Memorial Award: (One per campus)Conferred at school recognition ceremonies each year to the student
who is viewed as having manifested the greatest concern for other individuals within the NYIT community.
Isreal Louis Schure Award (One per campus) Conferred for outstanding performance in extracurricular leadership.
Estelle Ormont Award (One per campus) Presented for outstanding extracurricular activity and/or special effort related
to the student’s field of interest.
MLK Jr Award (One per campus)Presented for outstanding contribution to the minority community at NYIT. Named in
honor of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in recognition of his charismatic leadership in the cause of civil rights and peace.
Jules Singer Memorial Award (OW Only): To a student who has made outstanding contributions to the intellectual and
cultural climate of the college.
Richard Gabay Award (OW Only) Presented by the Old Westbury Student Government Association for demonstrated
outstanding leadership in extracurricular activities.
Student Service Award (One per campus)To a graduating student at each campus for outstanding service to the college.
Alumni Award (One per campus)To graduating students from each campus who have contributed outstanding service
to the college.
Student Athlete of the Year(One per campus) For demonstrated outstanding team spirit, sportsmanship, and playing
ability.
PW Gentile Award for Sportsmanship(One per campus) For demonstrated outstanding athletic ability and
sportsmanship
Valeria Sanfratello Award (OW only) Presented to an Old Westbury Student who has contributed significantly to the
enhancement of fraternity and sorority life on campus.
Barbara Scarpa Marchese Memorial Award (OW Only) was founded to assist students who have shown exceptional leadership skills
in the area of Student Government, Student Success and service to the NYIT Community. This award will be awarded annually to a
student on the Old Westbury Campus chosen solely by the Office of Campus Life. One student per year will receive this $1000.00
award.
