FIRST QUIZ TOMORROW, TUESDAY!...
... I'm glad to see HW questions comin from you; it means you're taking the HW seriously. Again, tomorrow
(Tuesday) is recitation Tuesday; we will discuss the HW, so you should know ahead of time which
problems you'd like to talk about. Then we have our weekly quiz during the last ten minutes of class. Also I
will try to be in my office (and in the chat room) all day today (except for 12:20 to 1:10) and tomorrow
morning (Tue) by 9 AM if you got any more last-minute questions. We'll try our best to make a good start to

You know that the problem numbers listed are from the THIRD edition of our textbook (blue cover). As part of my continuing
devotion to serving you all, I have also posted the numbers for those same problems as they appear in the SECOND edition (red
cover). These are listed in red letters at the bottom of the HW entry, just before the quiz date. If this helps you, please let me
know!
PLUS I have also posted for your guidance COMPLETE solutions to selected Ch. 19 problems, taken from
the Student Study Guide for the textbook.

TOMORROW, Tue Jan. 8, we DO have a QUIZ!!! Read on...
* Remember, we do meet on TUESDAYS for "Recitation" -- which is where we discuss weekly homework and end with a tenminute weekly QUIZ.
* You already have your weekly homework assignment (click on HW Set 1). Remember, this will not be submitted or graded;
instead you will be quizzed on very similar problems; for HW Set 1, the quiz is next Tuesday Jan. 15.
* Tomorrow: we have no HW to quiz you on yet, so tomorrow's quiz will be a BONUS quiz. This means it will NOT count
against your quiz score, but will be an added bonus on top of it. Instead of discussing HW, during the first 40 minutes we will do
a lightning review of some PH 114 concepts, and on the 10-minute bonus quiz, you will show us what you have retained from PH
114!
