“Leading in Flight: American Airlines and Employee Diversity”
Manager in the Airport Services group at American Airlines in Dallas Texas. In this role, he is
responsible for operations analysis at American’s largest hub – Dallas/Fort Worth International
Airport. The operation encompasses over 14,000 monthly departures, and close to 2 million
passengers boarded per month. During his 25 year career at American, Gordon has worked in a
variety of departments such as Maintenance & Engineering, Network Planning, Revenue
Management, and International Planning. Gordon holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial
Engineering from Kansas State University and completed his Master of Business Administration
at the University of Texas at Arlington.

“We Were Here” is the first documentary to take a deep and reflective look back at the arrival
and impact of AIDS in San Francisco. It explores how the City’s inhabitants were affected by,
and how they responded to, that calamitous epidemic. Though a San Francisco-based story, “We
Were Here” extends beyond San Francisco and beyond AIDS itself. It speaks to our capacity as
individuals to rise to the occasion, and to the incredible power of a community coming together
with love, compassion, and determination.

In order to continue to lead LGBT movements forward we need to be aware of and appeal to
everyone at the places where they are hurt by homophobia. How does it promote racism, sexism,
and other isms that limit and oppress human beings in the U.S. and how do we communicate that
to make it everyone's issue.

Dedication of the Jason Dockins Memorial

The Kansas State University Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center
would like to invite you to a memorial and dedication service in honor of one of our students,
Jason Dockins. Jason was a very dedicated and out-going K-State student who committed suicide
on August 18, 2008, at the age of 22.
Jason Dockins was a resident ofConcordia,Kansaswhere he graduated fromClifton-ClydeHigh
Schoolin 2004. He then came to K-State and was very involved with campus life. Jason was very
active with the K-State community, especially with organizations associated with LGBT
students. He was a member of the Beta Mu Chapter of Delta Lambda Phi, serving as social chair
and later as an alumnus. He was also very active with the Eagle Scouts organization where he
served as a Vice-President and then President of the Order of the Arrow. His friends and family
describe him as a very outgoing person who was always willing to put the needs of other people
ahead of his own.
While this dedication ceremony is in honor of Jason, we also hope to make aware the very real
situation of the increase in suicide among young people across the state and country, especially
with LGBT students. While students may seem like they are completely fine, many are fighting
internal struggles that the rest of us may never know about until it’s too late. We hope to be able
to make it known to all students and community members that help is out there and it does get
better.
This event will be held on April 14, 2012 at 4:30 PM at Coffman Commons, located at the south
side of Hale Library, on the K-State Campus.
