Some stars, however, rise higher, shine brighter and earn the admiration of all around them. The next Award recipients won’t raise their own hands. That’s why we need you. The accomplishments of the members of UBC’s global community of alumni represent an inspiring account of positive social, cultural, and economic change in the world. The alumni UBC Achievement Awards is the chance to recognize those actions and share the stories of our vibrant and influential community. It’s easy to nominate an award recipient, here’s how: 1. Read the overview of eligibility, exclusions and categories (see end of document) 2. Refer to the criteria of the awards (end of document) and explain in a cover letter (maximum 2 pages) how the candidates accomplishments relate to the stated criteria, the impact of their role, and why they should be chosen to receive a specific award 3. Complete the nomination form 4. Solicit two letters of support to accompany the nomination 5. Optional: Submit a curriculum vitae (maximum 8 pages) for the candidate with highlights of their achievements, in chronological order Please ensure all materials/information are submitted in the formats detailed above (summarize articles and publications rather than submitting them), and that all parts are typed – other materials will not be considered. Adjudication is overseen by the alumni UBC Achievement Awards Selection Committee, including the review of all nomination materials and selection of the recipients. Nominations are considered for up to 3 years, with the exception of the Future Alumnus Award, which is considered only in the year the nomination is made. Each year nominators must update their nomination package by submitting via e-mail a one-page cover letter during the open nominations period to fred.lee@ubc.ca. The Committee may choose to move a nominee into a different award category, or not to roll the nomination forward (in which case the nominator will be informed). The deadline for nominations is January 29, 2016.
