2011: Leeds Social Science Institute PGR Placement Fellowship
Work-life balance and the next generation of business leaders. 13-week placement with An Inspirational Journey, an
organisation that seeks to increase the number of skilled women working at the top of corporate Britain. The
project will focus on the career and family expectations of women and men in the early stages of corporate
careers and will address the question of whether recent graduates are equipped with realistic understandings of
the challenges associated with achieving the elusive “balance” between career progression and family life. Main
contribution with be literature and policy review.
2010–2013: PhD studentship – University of Leeds
Work-life balance for those that live alone. This research is exploring the work-life attitudes and experiences of young
professional and managerial employees who live alone. The research considers the interplay of structure, culture
and agency in the lives of these individuals over time, and their current attitudes to both the work and ‘life’
domains.
