Project Experience:
Biltmore Dairy Farms (NC Leaking UST Program) – Asheville, NC
Provided project management for surface water and groundwater release assessment and
corrective action associated with leaking USTs at former dairy products production facility.
Corrective action included soil excavation with on-site treatment, pump & treat system
installation with carbon filtration discharging to the local POTW. Supervised installation of
system and performed groundwater monitoring and system maintenance.
Former Benfield Industries Site (USEPA Superfund Program) – Waynesville, NC
Project management included groundwater monitoring and remedial system operation,
maintenance and monitoring for former chemical plant destroyed by fire. Site was entered
into Superfund program due to lack of viable responsible party and VOC and SVOC
contamination of both soil and groundwater. Reports submitted to USEPA regulatory agency
included standard monthly remediation system operational and maintenance reporting, annual
groundwater monitoring reports, including groundwater flow maps, contaminant
isoconcentration maps and evaluation of chemical analytical results with associated
recommendations for system modification, effectiveness of remediation effort.
Mark IV Industries (NC UST, Aquifer Protection Programs and NC Brownfields) –
Waynesville, NC
Provided both NCDENR regulatory agency incident management and private consultation of
multiple releases at former rubber products manufacturing facility. Managed soil corrective
action for redevelopment under USEPA/NC Brownfields redevelopment program. Performed
comprehensive record review and consolidation of all open regulatory incident releases into
single report, while developing a course of action to bring about closure to the former Dayco
site releases. Project management for excavation and disposal of heavy naphtheniccontaminated soil to achieve incident closure of soil contamination. Achieved incident closure
with no further action for two additional release incidents associated with the facility.
Abandoned Gasoline Station (NC Brownfields Program) - Swannanoa, NC
Provided project management and quality assurance for soil and groundwater assessment of
abandoned gasoline station entered into the North Carolina Petroleum Brownfields program.
Management included development of Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) Sample
Analysis Plan (SAP) and Health and Safety Plan (HASP) in accordance with USEPA
Brownfields protocol, coordinated field activities and geophysical investigation to qualify site
for closure and no further action.
Gasoline Release at Former Flooring Installation Contractor (NC Brownfields Program) –
Hendersonville, NC
Provided project management and quality assurance for soil and groundwater assessment of
gasoline release at former flooring installation contractor business which was entered into the
North Carolina Petroleum Brownfields program because of lack of identified responsible
party. Management included co-development of QAPP SAP and HASP in accordance with
USEPA Brownfields protocol, coordinated field activities and quality assurance oversight,
evaluation and interpretation of analytical sample results, report preparation.
Broyhill Furniture Industries (NC UST Programs, NC Brownfields and Inactive Hazardous Site
Program) – Conover, NC
Provided project management for soil and groundwater assessment of UST releases of varsol
and naphtha solvents utilized in the manufacturing of furniture. Assessment of releases
included Limited Site Assessments performed under NCDENR risk-based corrective action
protocol and coordinated release incidents toward closure under 15A NCAC 02L. Served as

liaison between responsible party and IHSB to enter site into the Registered Environmental
Consultant Program for remedial action.
Former Western Carolina Fairgrounds Property (NC Brownfields Program) – Hendersonville,
NC
Provided project management and quality assurance for soil and groundwater assessment of
release at former fairgrounds property historically utilized as a fire training grounds for local
fire department(s). Site was entered into the North Carolina Petroleum Brownfields program
to provide evaluation of the site for redevelopment. Management included development of
QAPP SAP and HASP in accordance with USEPA Brownfields protocol, development of
work plan and Phase I Environmental Site Assessment under ASTM E1527-05 All
Appropriate Inquiry.
