Communication entails a verbal or written message; a process by which information is exchanged
between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behavior; a technique for expressing
ideas effectively. (Merriam-Webster)
Communications (plural) is generally the technology of the transmission of information; a system (e.g.
telephones, satellite, facsimile, etc.) for communicating.
Resources in the field of communication studies may be cross-disciplinary, so do not be limited to the
